accessing email

Often ,at work, I need to access my mail from home computer and I don't know just how to do it. I have Comcast, but my mail program is outlook express, so mail usually goes to comcast.net and then into outlook. What would be the correct way to get my mail from the computers at work?

Go to http://www.mail2web.com and you'll be able to enter your home e-mail address and password and view e-mails still on the server (i.e. not the ones you've already viewed from home).
E-mails viewed here are not automatically removed from the server, but you can choose to do so. You can also send and reply to e-mails here as if you were at home.

You can also probably just go to the isp main page www.comcast.net and click the Msil icon. Then you should be into the webmail to read/send whatever - the things that you have not downloaded with your Outlook mail program.

If you need to access your home computer from work you ideally might try windows remote desktop if your version of windows supports it, otherwise one of the free VNC programs are pretty simple yet a bit clunky.

VNC = Virtual Network Computing. Pretty popular program.

Hi Jenifer, I tried to get to the post office today before 12:00, and did actually but they were closed. Bad enough they have such stinky hours but then they had the nerve to close early on a Saturday! Ugh. Anyway I'll get my package in the mail on monday. This is only my second year trading seeds so I'm a bit of a novice. Just wondering on grass seeds, I put about three little heads of the bunny tails grass in each bag, is that good? Also I have some other taller perennial grasses the have big fronds do I just pull it all away from the main stem and shove some in a bag? Thanks. Eileen

Router install and internet connection question-please help!

I truly appreciate all your help mikie!It is so difficult for me to explain exactly what is going on.I only know computer basics and just enough terminology to be confusing. LOL Currently,I am connecting to the internet by going to Earthlink.net and clicking on the set up button. I am accessing my e-mail through Earthlink.net, too. That is the only way I can connect to webpages.I can no longer connect using on desktop icons or by going to internet connections. The problem started when I allowed a Belkin auto setup to program my wireless router to my computer. Even if I disconnect the router and try to connect the way I did before the router I still can not connect through my computer. The only reason I mentioned proxy server was that when earthlink had me join teamviewer4, teamviewer4 stated I was on a proxy server and that I needed to connect with my computer connection. I am basing my statement on that info. I may not be on a proxy server. Is connecting through Earthlink.net connecting to a proxy server? I have not called earthlink back yet as the tech seems to get frustrated with my problem before it can be corrected. Also, it is a minimum 1 hour call each time.

dcarch: Thanks for your suggestions. I'm actually looking for the hardware, not software. Appreciate the suggestions though. We have a full size laptop now, but I want a separate "something" for the kitchen. I have a ton of recipes saved in Outlook at work and want to bring them home and be able to sort, read and cook with them IN the kitchen. Gina: Yes, please. I'm not familiar at all with the tablet style. I'd be interested to see what your friend has to say. momj47: I've been doing just a little looking at Acer and Asus brands (cheaper) as well as the Sylvania 7". It's interesting to me that the "minis" have been out for around 3 years and there aren't many used or refurbs out there. That tells me that either people didn't buy them right away or they did and love them and aren't selling used ones. Hmmmm.....??? This is strictly a splurge thing for me and not a "need", so I'm planning to take my time and find the right application and price. I check craigslist regularly too. Keep the suggestions coming!! At work I forward my emails back to myself so I can read them at home. Or I forward to a web mail email. I am using a trial version of Go to My PC (free for a month), and that works very well if you leave your work machine on.

I will second the recomendation for Mail2Web.

It works great - just remember your username and password and you can check your email anywhere.

I am a dialup user, and once in while someone sends me a video or some other huge file. I can easily go to Mail2Web and delete it, so the rest of my mail can come into my inbox.

Just a suggestion but when using the mail2web there is an option for secure login click that so you are sure your info is going through securely.
