I bought one of last year's floor model La Perlas from a local appliance dealer for that price (it had been used, but barely), rather than a new Dimension. Came with a full factory warranty effective the date it was installed. As you say, a no brainer. Someone's going to get a really good deal.

It turns out that the Crystal was $100 more than we expected. Then after we paid for it, it turned out you couldn't just buy the cutlery tray you had to switch a version that needed the panel which then boosted the price considerable. So we canceled the order. Then we found they billed the card and the money stayed in suspense for almost 2 weeks. This was $1424. Sigh. So far the Miele Classic with the cutlery tray in black makes the most sense. We almost had a La Perla for $1695 but it was in stainless. Just for the record I'm doing most of the dishes by hand. Since I pulled the dishwasher (and wired up a socket) we had no draining racks the VDW got me a draining rack ! It's curious I'm starting to wonder why we need a dishwasher. I only wonder about the latch on the Classic. One I saw wouldn't close another was hard to close. Still, it seems like it's adjustable. Larry

Great to read this thread. I just got the same dishwasher last week-- and after one poorly loaded load (our fault), the second wash was much better. But I have a question for this group. I have read (and reread) the manual, but I cannot figure it out. I came into the kitchen today and saw the Start/Stop light slowly blinking. The manual says it's on Standby, which occurs at the end of a program. I open the dishwasher; everything is clean and dry, so I think it's the end of the normal program. But then I read some more-- and the next part of the manual says that the End light comes on at then end of the program. Which is it? Standby means the end? The End means the end? I'm guessing (only guessing here) that the End light comes on first-- for a time-- then switches over to Standby, to remind you the power is technically still on. Is that right? I appreciate any insight here!
