I have a few areas where I send myself an email with a keyword in the subject line and let Yahoo sort it out. Delivery times vary considerably. Like someone above I once wondered "why". Then it occurred to, even if I knew "why" nothing would change. One of the advantages that come with dotage is caring less about why.

Over the course of a few months in 2006 we sent about $800 to SWF for an item on layaway. At some point communication from/with them stopped. When we reconnected they claimed they were being purchased by Mission Home Interiors. Long story short, they didn't (luckily for us, in retrospect) respond to our queries about how to pay further for the furniture we had ordered. At that point I began inquiring about a refund. They were very nice as they claimed that they had no record of the funds being transferred because of the change in ownership. I sent them a copy of the PayPal records, and at that point they became totally noncommunicative. I tried to pursue them through the BBBs of Charlotte NC, Brooklyn NYC NY, and New Jersey. Each time the BBB responded that the address was undeliverable. The people we spoke with were "Sherry Johnson" (customer service) and "Sara Davis" (accounting). When calling them, they never give the name of someone you can talk to, or they are happy to forward you to an extension that never picks up, and they seem to have a difficult time coming up with an address for sending them a letter -- not that it really matters. In reading the stories here, I feel fortunate that we are only out $800 or so, and it's made me real hesitant to engage in certain forms of internet commerce in the future. I realize in retrospect that their few months of noncommunication were probably a way to cancel the possibility of PayPal offering any help, as PayPal will only help you pursue problems within 30 days. The money is long gone, and somehow I feel not so bad because I am not alone. It's the misery-loves-company scenario. I wonder how some folks can sleep at night, or how they can wake up in the morning knowing what the rest of their day is going to entail.

I would expect it to be delivered tomorrow. At Christmas time the USPS girl and I had a big laugh. The package was not delivered the previous day because there were no numbers on my house. None of the houses on my street have numbers on them because our numbers are on the mailbox which is normal in this area. In the case of my house you can not see more than the two corners of my house from the street.

Due to unexpected surgery, the bulk of my Christmas shopping since Thanksgiving week has been online. With four kids to shop for, as well as my husband, that is a lot of packages. Not to mention, I placed a single order with Kohls, yet they shipped in eight different packages. In fact that happened with several orders I placed - if there were multiple items from one onlime store, they still shipped in numerous packages. Thankfully, I had a spreadsheet going to keep track of everything so I know when I haven't received something. So far, I have only one problem. I ordered something on Monday 11/23 that supposedly shipped the next day via Lasership. The Lasership tracking page had an expected delivery date listed as 11/25, but the only entry showed 12/1 as showing the package had been received and was on its way. Nothing since then. After patiently waiting, I sent an email to Lasership. They responded that they had looked into it but could not find any info as to what happened and would keep me posted. Never heard from them again. I also called the company I ordered from. They said I had to wait 14 business days. It still never turned up. Long story short, they resent the package, and this time, according to tracking, it is out for delivery today. It's almost 5pm but still not here. If it comes at all, probably after I'm in bed! Everything else arrived, though on two different occasions, my next door neighbor received packages for me. One from Fedex and the other was Amazon. In return, I got one of his Amazon packages. All in all, it has been much better than last year. Timely deliveries from all carriers. We have never had problems with UPS, but this year, USPS and FEDEX have been 100x better than last year.
