Hi Purpleinopp, It does, but it doesn't include the link for that specific posting. It's something that should be very easy to do because the address to a specific posting is different than that of the thread. No other forum that I use, and I literally use dozens on lots of different subjects (art, writing, politics, etc.) use this stupid format. When I receive an email alert from those forums it gives the link to the exact posting, not just to the thread. This is not a small problem on Gardenweb. It's a huge problem that needs to be fixed.

i use firefox and adblock plus, no problems. i think there's an adblock plus for ie also. also clearing out your cache, history, and cookies once a month might help. general maintenance, such as disk cleanup, and defrag will help. like Mike said, use an antivirus and anti spyware. i use avira and malwarebytes. both are free and don't eat up your resources or slow your computer down like norton, mcafee, and the other big company programs.

Sue, those underlined words are exactly what I'm talking about. It is a 'legitimate' link and the advertisers are paying iVillage for the use of the site. We were warned it was going to happen - look at the What's New section right over the top of the message list - and even told how to opt out of the ads. (Click on the connection under What's New that says "Please read this important announcement about new advertising.") But it's not working and we are not able to decline the ads right now. Tamara says they are working on it. Although I find the underlined connections annoying, I REALLY hate that someone looking at one of my posts might think I condone or even promote a company because there's a link to them in my post! But all of these links are automatically inserted at key words and it's all done by a company called IntelliTXT. I want to be able to opt out of seeing them AND having them attached to my posts, but I don't think that's going to be possible. Kate

Tom is the owner. Tom@... For more than six months I have been waiting for a shipment of an O-ring. I bought a faucet from them. It had a broken O-ring. The O ring is of a non American size, The faucet is from China. I've been pestering them regularly, and occasionally I've gone on a persistent campaign of calling back several times a day. This somehow reminds me of "I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly"; it reminds me that only with an O-ring will my faucet work. I've haven't gotten around to rewriting the lyrics to suit these circumstances. hth
