search provider Not Available?

I can't use address bar. Checked Tools, search provider. One is listed, enabled but also, when I scroll to right to read it, it says, Not Available. If I highlight it, the bottom of page gives me more info, Not available. No clue how to fix this. Any one have an idea? Thanks.

Can you click use current or use default? or click to the right of what's in there then take out with backspace? then put in what you want.

Vista, IE9. Tools Menu in IE, manage add ons, search providers. Labels across top, Name - Google, Status -default, Listing order-1, Search Suggestions-enabled, Top Result-not available.
The not available is read by scrolling to right to read it. If I highlight the line, Google-default-1-enabled-not available.
It also give search results info a bottom left, and also says "not available" I can't search from the address bar. Went to Control Panel, Internet Options, advanced tab, restore Advanced Settings, clicked and nothing is changed after I do. So, how do I get a search provider to work? Have gone to M$ site, added 2 others, same result, not available under Top Result label.

I have contacted Brazilians Mauro via e-mail, but he only sell some hybrid Hippeastrum seeds on his website,and does not sell other Hippi rare species seeds to us such ordinary Hippi lovers. Sometimes sell on Ebay is too expensive, is beyond the lovers can afford! Exchange between lovers is better, and economy, it can be increased the friendship of us. 5 Rare Papilio x Mandonii Seeds Sold to $152.50 on ebay, It is too expensive, I am not going to buy! BTW:I have a lot of the Holland ,South Africa Hippeastrum species and a little Rare Hippeastrum varieties fully mature /flowering sized bulbs , waiting until they blossom, I can get a lot of selfing or hybrids seeds,SO I can exchange the seeds or offsets with you guys! What I always do now is use google. I type in what I want to search followed by gardenweb. So if I want to search marble countertops, in the Google search box I'd type: marble countertops gardenweb The first thing that comes up is usually an ad for Lowe's or something... The next thing is a paragraph looking thing that looks smushier than the results below it. It's ALL GW results and right below it in smaller writing it says "more results from gardenweb.com>>" CLICK THAT. The next pages are NOTHING BUT GW RESULTS. If you bookmark that page and save it to your favorites, you can search from that page from now on. The "site.ths.gardenweb.com" can stay in the searchbox and you would just change out what's in the rest of the google search box for your search. It's really super easy. It sounds like more steps than it is. Once I figured that out, it became the only way I searched GW. I found out that threads get purged from the site after a while but stay archived in google. There's still no chronological order. But it's much more helpful than trying to do a search here.

Have you tried shutting down the computer and starting again? NOT a restart. Are you sure the computer is not infected.

If the above fails try to repair or re-install Internet Explorer from here.

owbist, thanks for the suggestion. I spent hours messing around M$ site trying to find what I needed to know, and finally gave up. Went back today and uninstalled and reinstalled IE9. Got a bunch of updates,5. that I hadn't had before. Now it works! Yippee! I just wanted to be able to search from the address bar. Now I can. I'm also hoping that all the unexpected closing of IE will stop now. I noticed there were a lot of folks complaining about it at M$ site. Am hoping one or more of those updates adresses the problem. Thanks so much for the suggestion. I don't think I'd have thought of that solution. The search provider issue has been problem for many months. Years for the shutting down unexpectedly. Thanks so much. :))
