Full StoryWe hired someone to network two computers at work. They are directly cabled to each other. He installed a Linksys N Wireless router which he shut off the wireless part. I guess it works like a switch. We were not happy with the work done nor the outrageous price charged to do this. I'd prefer not to call him again.
He shut off Zone Alarm, which runs on both computers. He said we can't use it because the router has a firewall. Microsoft has been trying to update since last week and it keeps failing. I sent off a email to Microsoft and they responded saying I must shut off the firewall.
Where would I look to find this firewall? If I unplug the router, I won't have internet (I think). Everything is so messed up I don't know what to do, but I need to get both machines updated.
