I read my kindle for pc on my netbook, on each side of every page is a forward or back arrow you simply have to set your cursor on the forward arrow with the touch pad once then any time you want to turn the page simply tap. I do not use my mouse when reading it is very very easy just to tap for the next page. If you use a mouse you can certainly use it on that arrow on the page to move forward or back.
an actual kindle device has no mouse, you have a tab on the edge of the kindle you tap to change pages.
the netbook is bigger than the kindle and of course has 2 sections where as the kindle is like a tablet so it is easier to carry and hold. If I was buying a kindle I would buy the new bigger size kindle, but it is more expensive.
I would get the kindle over the nook I have reviewed both and used both and just much prefer the kindle. Several people in my family have kindles and absolutely love them.

I simply use the forward and back arrows at the bottom of the keyboard to turn pages back and forth. When I am finished reading for a while and want to bookmark a page, I activate the touch pad just long enough to use the pointer to click the bookmark. I, too, hate using a touchpad, but I do not have to use my mouse for using the Kindle for PC.

Thanks for the info. I went to BJ's today and saw the Sony's two models. They are very firmly nailed down so I couldn't really hold them. The 10.1 inch Acer was also on display. I think having only one piece with the Kindle as opposed to the two pieces of a netbook is a decided advantage. Buying either one is a good dent in my budget. If I had a netbook I think I wouldn't ever bother to lug my laptop anywhere. I have used it in motels and for when my PC was down, but otherwise, it sits on the top shelf of the computer desk. The netbook could do double duty as a PC laptop mini and a reader. OTOH, the smaller e-reader would be the most practical and comfortable for me. I slump into my recliner and usually have from 1 to 3 cats on my chest and lap. When they are with me it is awkward to turn pages. I guess I'll have to wring my hands and work on a decision for a while longer. I do have another question; who would repair a Kindle if it had problems accessing their site and downloading? I have enough problems finding somebody both good and affordable to fix my computer.

As a kindle owner who is very pleased, I would suggest that you take a look at the forums at kindleboards.com. There is tons of information there for a prospective kindle buyer. Maybe it would help you make your decision more easily. Hope this helps.

I have recently been reading some freebies from feedbooks.com
you can get them in pdf form and it also lists the kindle for download type. I chose that format and sure enough it works perfectly in my kindle for pc, should work in real kindle also. Nice to have another place to get free books that work in the kindle.
