Who's your provider? My friend is getting bombarded with FedEx and UPS E-Mails on her Yahoo account that includes infected attachment, with precautions in place I opened one and it does contain a backdoor password stealing Trojan.

As far as giving you advice not sure what to tell you if some one has your address, password, etc. except to get a new account.

I'm getting those UPS/FedX emails in my Yahoo account, but Yahoo has a great Spam filter and that is where they go.

In Thunderbird I get stuff that is Junk in my main account. I enjoy clicking on it and choosing Mark as Junk again, and it goes to my Junk folder which I empty every day.

I haven't received any spam in several years and nothing in my yahoo either, but it's fairly new.

Getting unwanted spam is a fact of being online. There is nothing you can do to prevent it coming into your mailbox. I probably get half a dozen a day. You just need to be careful about opening things from unfamiliar senders. In addition, if a friend gets a virus, you could even get something unwanted sent to you from their contact list. It's just one more annoyance and you simply need to be careful.

Perhaps not in this case, but all too often it is a reckless use of an e-mail address by the user. Yes, there are means to data mine e-mail addresses, and the shotgun approach by spammers is still in use. However, it is more prevalent that users are cavalier in registering with their address at any old site. Not all sites are trustworthy and many sites share information and mailing lists. Once you get on one there isn't much that can be done.

No spam in my Yahoo account. In three of my five Hotmail accounts I don't get any spam. In the remaining two maybe one a week combined.

do you have friends or people that send you those emails with the long list of everyones email address still listed on them? And do you ever forward those emails on to others?
If the answer to those questions is yes then you likely just provided the answer to why you get spam mail.
Those emails where people do not bother to protect the email addresses by using the BCC feature are like a present for the people who send out spam they gather up those emails and harvest all those good email addresses. In fact many times those cute ones that are sure to be forwarded are started by the spammers

If you do not use BCC when sending email to multiple people then start doing it now it is simple courtesy to help protect privacy and email addresses.
