Those tiles have a slight back cut to them. The real secret was the drywall bead I used next! These are plastic drywall beads with a tear away strip. I tore the strip away and just used the finished product from the start. These beads common at speciality drywall shops but not at your everyday home cheapo I kept the bead off the tile edge 1/16" and then later grouted that. The hot glue gun I used to spot set the bead. Later joint compound was forced into the holes and then the ouuze out raked away from where grout ended up. The slight back cut can easily be done with a grinder and diamond blade. No wet saw needed... No tile edging strips where used in this entire bathroom build. Those strips and bull nose tile seam to be used by those setters not wanting to do mitered corners. I hate the look of both really so maybe it is just my taste that ends up winning in the end. Most clients don't care one way or the other. As long as it looks nice. My way takes longer. Requires more skill. And cost more. What do you think? Worth it???

I hadn't thought about using the water pik in the center cabinet -- I'm not sure how long the hose is -- it would need to reach the sink and as I said, in our bathroom, there is more space between the cabinets so the center cabinet is farther from the sinks. I will make sure we put an outlet in each cabinet so that is an option. In my opinion, I kind of figured the center cabinet would stay closed most of the time and we would mainly use the ones above our respective sinks. But I will have to measure the cord on the water pik and see if it would work to use the center one as the main one. On the subject of two sinks, we only have one sink now and I never understood the desire for two sinks (it always seemed like people on househunters were completely irrational about it, LOL!). In my opinion, a second sink was just more work to clean. But here we are putting in 2 sinks because my dh has a lot of dental problems and his dentists keep adding steps to his nightly tooth care ritual to the point where it takes him like 20 minutes to brush, floss, use this other weird gum cleaning tool, water pik, rinse with special prescription rinses, etc. In the meantime, I am standing there exhausted waiting my turn at the sink so I can brush for a minute and go to bed (I was blessed with good teeth thankfully!). So I cannot WAIT to have two sinks even though I will end up cleaning them both.

Thanks for your reply! I am curious about what kind of trim will be required between the units if I go this route. I'm meeting with our kitchen designer tomorrow and will bring subzero spec sheets, hopefully we can get an idea. Interesting that you say you like the look of them opening the same way, I'm glad! I've never seen an example but will try again to hunt down some photos. Thank you for the other suggestions as well - not sure about switching the two but I do have a little bit of flexibility and might be able to separate them. I also had another idea that struck me as genius for a moment - just get the 30" fridge and put the freezer separately under counter. Either a set of 30" drawers or a 24" unit. Everything will be panelled so doesn't have to be the same brand. Slightly less capacity but probably still sufficient given that I have another upright freezer in the garage, which is easily accessible. This would give me so much flexibility in my layout and look so much better! Then I remembered that my husband and kids consider an exterior water and ice dispenser to be absolutely essential (I could care less but they'll pull the plug on the entire reno if I try to negotiate out their water and ice!). As far as I can see, these only come on freezer units, not fridge. So now I'm researching water and ice units that I could build into a cabinet....

I'd do the one immed to the right of the sink as a single with the handle on the left and hinge on the right. That way when you're standing at the sink, it will open toward you. I'd keep glasses and mugs, every day drinkware there. Probably a bottle of vitamins or other such might live there, too. The other two should be a double, opening in the center. Then you have plenty of room for your dishes, or large mixing bowls, or baking dishes or whatever. I would absolutely not have three choppy cabinets there.
