Plse Report on Local Sales!:Lowe's 50% off Report
Comments (6)Cole Gardens in Concord, NH has 30% off trees and perennials, with 50% off rhodies and azaleas. They had a couple of Cornus kousa 'Wolf Eyes' and one C. kousa 'Satomi' and a variety of nice evergreens and hydrangeas. I also saw signs for 30% off outdoor pottery and I think I saw a buy two perennials and get 2 free. In my experience I have found their plants to be well grown and survive well, even when I buy on sale and the end of the season and they may be a bit pot-bound. Although a few plants had slightly crispy leaves, the stock looked pretty good to me considering the summer we have had. The only other comment is don't go today as there is a Nascar race at the speedway down the road so traffic will be horrible in the morning and late afternoon. You'd be OK mid-day probably or anytime after noon tomorrow....See MoreSkylight vs. solatube vs. heated floor
Comments (7)Just a thought: you can add a solatube (or, with more work + expense, a skylight) later on. But adding a heated floor later would be much more difficult and expensive, because you'd have to rip up the floor to do that. If you want all those items, but they aren't in the budget right now, put in the heated floor and several inexpensive but decent looking lights. Then once you've recovered from the building expenses, you can add in the solatubes/skylights and different fixtures. Everytime there's a thread about "your best bathroom decision," heated floors almost always comes out on top....See MoreGet the Daylight Dimmer for a Solatube?
Comments (6)I will either have my contractor install it or the official solatube installer. I am absolutely not a DIYer and my husband's handyman skills around the house don't come anywhere near that sort of thing, either. My current plan is to do the solatube with a light and then separately, a Panasonic fan with a heater. I want all 4 functions and after some thought and a phone call, I think that's the best way to divide them up, while minimizing the amount of stuff on the ceiling of my little 5x8 bathroom. I called solatube and they couldn't tell me who made their fan or how many sones it runs, so I decided to go with one of the Panasonic WhisperWarm fans that are so well rated here. Then having the light go with the solatube rather than the fan made sense to me, as that way, day or night, the light will be where I want light to be. Unless my contractor has some reason that this plan doesn't work, in which case, I'll make adjustments. I haven't priced any of it yet, beyond having found the fan/heater combo for $200 on www.bathroomfanexperts.com....See MoreSolatubes ... luv them!!
Comments (32)We got the 14 in. Solatube for our 12x16 ft. kitchen that had no windows. We have a small fluorescent light (15 watt) over the sink otherwise the Solatube is quite sufficient. The other tube we put in a 14x32 ft. den that had just two 12x24 in. windows (southfacing) that had amber decorative glass in them which gave very little light! The single 14 in. Solatube in the den provides just the amount of lighting we wanted. Was a few years ago but I think (?) they were around $600 each installed. We love them ... & we also have two solar panals we had installed many years ago & they in winter start pumping out heat around 8 AM & go off around 4:30 PM here in NM where we get a lot of sunshine... furnace rarely comes on during the day. Wish we could go more solar, but $$ ! We have a pitched roof w/attic & installation was no problem....See Morenjmamma
