reappearing items in recycle bin

Hi,

After emptying my bin, a month will go by and those items I thought were emptied are back again. I have had this happen a number of times now and would like to free ( once and for all) this space in my bin. Any clues ?

Double click it and answer yes to the import prompt.

That was an interesting link, taddy. Thanks! The recycling in my area has never requested that we separate glass. Steve, when you mentioned the "neck/no-neck" thing, it reminded me of how amazed I was when my mom told me that her recycling program would only take wide-mouth glass jars - or was it that they would NOT take wide-mouth glass jars? But either way, I couldn't believe that they would distinguish between these. Maybe I'm naive and don't know enough about the process, but it seems to me that a jar is a jar! Oh well, the good news is that now her program takes all jars. In looking through that link, I was intrigued by how many different things could "contaminate" the process. I was never aware of that. Now I wonder that programs never asked us to remove labels from cans and especially jars. We have a local "garbage museum" that my kids have visited several times on school trips. Maybe I should make a visit and learn more about the process! :) Dee

Hostagrams, is there anyway you can find another tri can spinner for your new home? I think I'd be tempted to take the old one with me. If you're home hasn't been sold yet take it out before you show it again and it's legally yours unless already stipulated in the sales contract. Thanks for the link too! Plow, sounds like you have a great system going for you. Along with your recycling service. I do say I miss it coming to our home like it did in the city, but it's nice to know here it helps support 4H. It's worth the drive into town. Cyn, now that you mention numbers one and two I should ask if they do more. I was only going by what the city took. Hubby just went up this past Saturday so it will be a few weeks before we go up there again, but maybe they have a website I should check. I'm glad you mentioned that. Thanks! Hubby has been doing it lately since I wear my Bass thongs all summer long and they and crushing just don't go together. I'd either twist my ankle or hurt the shoes, though they are sturdy (I replace them about once every decade) I don't want to take the chance. Mommabird, you don't mean Columbus, Nebraska, by any chance, do you? Jak 1 sounds like you have a great system too. We have bins just out side the door to the garage, but we were lucky and found a drawer type unit that works great. Never thought of adding shelves right out side the door for purchased bins. At the time we bought ours we were having trouble finding anything aimed at recycling. I'm guessing it's easier now. We found the bin storage at Home Depot for only $19.99 about five years ago. Jas, my husband uses the protein powder all the time. I use the containers for: bird feed, bungie cords, potting soil, cut in half as planters, for give away plants those are the only things I can think of right now. I am however no longer saving them. Got to many. :) Moni

Our community has had an extended recycling program for a really long time. We don't have curbside garbage/recycling pick up so we need to be able to store stuff until we can make a trip to the transfer station during the limited hours it is open. Dh built a small bench with a lift-up top into our mudroom. It contains a chute to a large container in the basement. All plastics and metal, including returnable cans, are deposited into it. Dh and ds sort out the items in the large container in the basement before dh takes a run to the transfer station or bottle/can redemption center. We keep a small trash can next to the chute in the mudroom where we place glass items. This small trash can gets scooped up from time to time when we go to the basement and the glass items are dumped into the container with other recyclables. We store newspapers and other large papers on a shelf in a cabinet in our mudroom. We do have a double trash pull out in the kitchen. Non recyclables go in one can and paper goes in the other. The paper gets brought down to the basement when it gets full. The garbage gets dumped into an outside can. The can is brought to the dump/transfer station when it gets full. I haven't felt overrun by recyclables since we put in the chute. We are fortunate to have a walkout basement and we can park right outside the door to load up the car. I've also heard of chutes that run from kitchen or mudroom to garage. I forgot to mention that we have a small sink in our kitchen right near the mudroom door. Food containers get rinsed before they go down the chute (sometimes the containers just get thrown into the sink until we want to deal with them.)

"You have to copy the entire file" so click on repair recycle bin on that page a big file will open That's a registry file.

Highlight and copy the entire file with the mouse, then go to your desk top Start>Run type Notepad in the run box hit ok, when NOTEPAD opens paste the file you copied into notepad ok that part done.

Now Still in NOTEPAD at the top Choose file, choose SAVE AS name the file, In the file name box TO---->FixMe.reg
Below I will paste a copy of the file from that page that's what you want to copy and paste the entire page ALL the text into NOTEPAD. only note pad will work, don't go using word pad.

That should fix the recycle bin, unless something else is going on.

Sorry, but all those items are back, as of yesterday. I thought it was indeed fixed, but... It's weird ; the same items are reappearing, but new items that have been deleted are not there.

I might delete them and try runnin Revo Uninstaller ... it has a tool... Evidence Remover. Completely Erases Deleted files on the hard drive - takes a few minutes.

Also,, sounds like IF you can and want to restore them, after a reboot maybe just delete them again,, since delete seems to work. Possible when you restore them windows will discover they dont exist and may clean up the records.

Can't tell right now as they are presently gone, but I do know that one of them is a set of house plans my daughter placed on my computer. That is really how I recognize that they are reappearing.
