Recycle Bin

Although I have deleted items, my recycle bin looks empty although it says there are 8 files that need to be deleted when I go to File, Empty Recycle Bin.

I recently had my computer worked on for another reason and I noticed the recycle bin issue when I got the computer back.

I have tried to find a fix it but get confused on the instructions. Can someone help me?

from the run line or any command prompt .. cmd ?
type in
cleanmgr -sageset101

you can check everything and read the description ... maybe click the System cleanup. then again to run it the way you have checked

Had to google cheanmgr -sagerun101 to find out what that is and I ended up at my start, all programs, accessories, system tools, disk cleanup. I read all the descriptions and clicked OK and when it was done, I restarted my computer and tried to send something to the recycle bin. It seems to be working now as I see the list so I can go to File, Empty Recycle Bin. Thank you.

If they're going to start enforcing "Do not take from recycling bin" regulations then I hope they start with the people who come down my street every recycling day/evening before and go through to pull out returnables. (I don't really want them arrested-just making a point)However, if you live in San Francisco, watch out-this flyer is dated 2011, so it is current. http://sfsafe.org/system/brochures/TheftofRecycleableMaterials.pdf If you are caught/spoken to, tell them you are going to recycle the container when you're done, so it really just goes back into the same recycling stream, just takes a little while longer to get there. I do think they are looking for the people who are stealing large scale to make a profit themselves, though. Alternatively, go onto freecycle and ask for jugs from your local group, or check with a restaurant (especially breakfast/lunch type) you may know to see if they can give you a batch. I'm sure people would be happy to give you milk jugs, as opposed to the returnable types. I asked for 2 liter bottles on freecycle and only received 12, because in my area you get the 5 cents back for each one. Not too many people willing to give up their 5 cents.

Rotating trash/recycling bins in the corner?

AnnKH - there are two versions - a partial overlay that has a rotating door (hence why you dont see it), and a full overlay door, which would be similar to on a super susan. Since we buy in bulk, we tend to get large quantities of recyclables at once, then nothing. So I could see myself filling those containers without too much trouble. Most of my kitchen gadgets (mixer, kettle, etc) will be in the 2nd corner cabinet, which will have a super susan, so it's more a question of do I need two fo the same, or will a bigger garbage be better for us? We currently have a 50L garbage can that's not under a cab and we empty it probably twice a week...so I like the larger size. ProSource Memphis - 'party kitchen', hrm...We are using our basement as our partying emptying space, so I don't think we'd need it for that, but a space for hubbies empties IS a good idea! In our current plan, the roundable garbage can would be just to the left of the sink, so pretty easy to use, as long as its sturdy and wouldn't break easy. As for our other 'stuff' - I don't own a kitchenaid, and getting a dedicated pantry will get most of our food goods out of cupboards, so I don't get the feeling that we'll need two super susans for much. Blender, handmixer, crock pot in one shelf (if they can even support that much weight?), and probably pyrex and stock pots in the other shelf (if tall enough). I admit though, I hate the idea of the super susans because in order to rotate them you get a bunch of dead space in the corners of the cab. A simple reach-in seems more useful for what I'd need to store.

I have this one in the 27-gallon size, which is <12" wide: https://www.rev-a-shelf.com/showProduct.aspx?SEName=double-bottom-mount-aluminum-waste-containers&ProductID=262 It's installed in a cabinet with a 13" wide rough opening and a 5"-tall drawer above it, with an inset door/drawer. I'm very happy with the functionality - the soft close is great.

Don't use turtle wax on your computer unless you want to make is slow and steady. Use Jubilee appliance polish :)

Glad your recycle bin is ok now. What's the next challenge ?

When I got my computer back from the computer people, I noticed a file called HJTinstall in My Documents. I googled to try to find out what it does. (Hi Jack This) It sounds like its not a good thing to have. Best way to remove it? I have not opened it. I have right-clicked on it and have the option to delete it. Will it uninstall? Thank you

Go to Add/Remove programs to remove HJT.

You are wise not to try this program, it is (was?) a good program in the right hands but removing the wrong thing in there can cause all kinds of problems.
