Winzip

Secunia found winzip 9 to be out of date for my laptop. I am going to delete as it takes me to version 14 which is not free. I really don't understand winzip to begin with and wonder if I even need it on my computer? If I delete it will it affect any of my programs? Also it found adobe 10 out of date and shows I have 2 adobe flash players both version 10??? Reading up on adobe I find they are having real issues right now with the upgrade and I use it for you tube. Don't know what to do...Thanks

You probably use winzip to open programs ?
I don't think that would be any security risk.
Leave it alone.
If you remove it,,, xp and vista and win7 handle opening basic zip files. But you find an odd zip sometimes that winzip handles that windows will ask What to open with.

Flash player will show as two programs for most people...
1 - for Internet Explorer with active x
1 - for Mozilla plug in .
Isn't 10 the current version ? Leave it alone if it is.
Search for Flash uninstaller if you remove them.

I'd uninstall Flash using their unistall utility
kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
and then reinstall it from scratch, assuming you want/need it.
I'd also remove Winzip and download 7-zip instead, it's free and works very well, from 7-zip.org (Unpatched 0% (0 of 2 Secunia advisories).
If you have Adobe Reader, make sure that's up to date also or uninstall it and use an alternative like PDF-Xchange Viewer from docu-track.com.

I believe what happened is that you opened the archive(.rar) and simply got a peek inside the archive. Double-clicking the pic caused it to be extracted to a "temp" directory where it was subsequently opened by your image viewer. It wasn't really hidden, just not "really" extracted. To extract the contents of the entire archive, you can right-click the unopened archive and select "Extract here". Or if you just need a file or two out of the archive, you can open the archive, select the desired file, and extract it. Myself, I would do that by dragging the file out onto my desktop. I'm going by memory, which may not be accurate. Also, I'm thinking of how I would do it with WinRAR. If you're using 7-zip or something built into Win8, then I don't really know. I suspect it would work similarly?

Real player is an Intrusive programs an usually runs on the pc getting realplayer up dates--The only thing this program does is play "Real Media files" so if you don't use it uninstall it.. You can remove 9.x Xp and vista can open Zip files you could uninstall win zip, if you find you need it later reinstall it. You could update apple quick time.

Owbist it worked with a few changes *lol* I unzipped the files and drag/dropped them into a folder I named "fonts". Then I went to "My Computer", clicked on the fonts icon and went to the top and opened "file". There I found the "Add Fonts" and clicked on it. The box opened and I tried to find my fonts folder. No matter what I did or clicked on it just would not open the area of My Documents where I had the folder. I noticed my cd/dvd drive was listed so I closed out of everything and made a cd of the fonts! Now when I went back and started over I just clicked on my cd/dvd drive, clicked "select all", hit "ok" and that was it!! Worked like a charm :o) Out of curiousity I open my PhotoShop Elements, opened a photo to play with, hit the font icon and they were now listed in the font list!! I'm a happy camper!!
