Baseboards with rounded corners??
Comments (5)The term for the rounded sheetrock corners is 'bullnosed'. Look at a millwork company(or two or three) catalogs(should be available on line) for bullnosed corners. It is possible to make the corners, but that takes some woodshop tools like a miter saw and a table saw. The idea is to cut several pieces at angles to glue together to make a rounder corner. If the base is to be painted, making corners is much easier, since any gaps can be filled, meaning the angles do not have to be perfect. Then the outside faces are sanded rounded and smooth. One other trick finish carpenters use is how to more invisibly join straight pieces along a wall run. Instead of just butting the two pieces against each other, a scarf joint is used---each piece is cut at matching 45 degree angles and glued together. When done correctly, the joint is often very difficult to see without paint/etc....See MoreSheetrock Corner Shape & Entryways Shape
Comments (13)In continental Europe, arches are popular- decorated with plaster finishings. Your home may need to be decorated in a more traditional style in order to carry this through the house? The square looks a lot more modern I agree. The arches look unfinished in the photo you provided. If you could finish the arches off, then it could look very elegant. (Apologies if photo is too big)...See MoreAre rounded corners an upgrade in homes today, are they old school?
Comments (41)Our house (built in 1992) has bulldozed corners and the original owners has applied the baseboards with a 22.5 miter to a short pc to round the corner then another 22.5 to the next wall. It looked fine but we put in all new flooring and used the prefab rounded corners with a taller plain baseboard and I like it much better....See MoreFabricator rounded corners on eased edge counters
Comments (26)nidnay it is crazy. Just from reading on this site what others had gone through I wanted to make sure I got what I envisioned. I went with pictures and the granite guy showed me a sample of what their eased edge would look like and it looked like what I wanted so we were good there. I said I wanted inside corners that were 90 degrees and outside corners that were 90 degree but slightly eased. Gave them pictures. I hoped for the best. Not much else I could do to express what my vision was. Luckily it turned out how I envisioned it would look. But you are right even with pictures sometimes things are interpreted differently....See Moresrercrcr
