Avanti Superconductor Mini-fridge - whats the problem?

Debbie Downer

Bought one of these to use in the studio - liked the idea of it being new, quiet technology (no compressor) and economical to run.

Have had it for a few days now. It cant keep up with summer heat  its been 85-90 the last few weeks. The temp inside is 38-40 range, and periodically it stops running altogether. When I called service they scolded me and told me "all our refrigerators are designed to work at 70-75. Its stopping because its working too hard," When I asked "is it harming the refrig to be running it in high heat," she said yes, you need to stop running it."

Can this be true?? Refrigerators designed to work in air-conditioned space only? Unbelievable.

Anyone else have any experience with these?
