I do have Solitaire on my acer netbook under games, I got the 123 free solitaire for my windows 7 and I also use one that is online.
I am sure you meant AVAST for your antivirus program?
I would also go ahead and add spywareblaster, malwarebytes, and if you want superantispyware, update weekly and do the scans, for spywareblaster you only update it then hit the enable all protection.

What are you using for a firewall?

for your games you might want to give this a try.
Go to Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs, then
click the Add/Remove Windows Components in the left panel. With Accessories
highlighted, click the Details button. On the next screen, highlight Games
and again click the Details button. You can add or remove check marks from
the boxes there on the various system games, then OK your way out and
Windows XP will install/remove whatever your selections are.

Google Desktop

Ravencajun, Yes I did mean Avast! Prior to taking delivery of the netbook I downloaded alot of programs on my desktop computer and put them on a thumb drive. I do have all of the programs you mentioned plus ZoneAlarm. I did go ahead and remove the Google Desktop as I found no need for it after I did some research about it. I think I will also go ahead and remove all the games because they seem to be "trial" verions from what I can find out. Do you perfer to remove them like you suggested or by the "uninstall" each game has in the Acer Games program list?

I haven't done it yet, but I will go download the 123-Solitaire game as you and genes suggested. I just don't trust most free downloads unless they are recommended by people like you and Genes, along with others on the forum.

mine did not have any trial games just the regular games that come with windows xp so I did not have to deal with that, in the past my HP's did come with game trials and I got rid of them I don't need or use them. If it seems to do a good uninstall then sure that is fine to use their uninstall, just another option in case that is where your solitaire is lurking and has not been checked to be included.

RC, It looks like neither uninstall does a very good job. I tried it both ways and the games are still listed in the Acer Games. If you click on the games name it tells you the program does not exist. I was able to right click on the name and delete it, but I didn't do all of them. Instead I ran CCleaner and they are still there! Now I'm wondering if I need to get rid of Acer Games all together to get rid of everything. what do you think?

Also, the "touch pad" is so sensitive that just touching a link or program sometimes opens it without clicking at all. I have tried to adjust the touch pad via its interface, but I can't find anything there to change this. I haven't tried using a mouse yet and there will be times when we can't so we need to get use to the touch pad.

BTW, I downloaded the 123-Solitaire and its just what I was looking for. Thanks again to both you and genes!

I do not like the touchpad and instead use only a little wireless usb mouse, I have hand problems so using the touchpad was just not a good option for me, I just keep it disabled.

You may want to try the free REVO uninstaller for the games, I do not have them so I don't really know what they are, but REVO does an excellent job.
Are they by any chance Wild Tangent games? If so you should find that in add remove programs.

when you go to start> all programs> games is solitaire not listed in there with the rest of the MS games?

RC, No Soliaire is not listed in the games at all. Just a bunch of games I've never heard of. I don't have the netbook on right now so I can't tell you exactly what they are. I thought about trying Revo and see if that works. I'll do that later so thanks for the link.

In regards to the touch pad; I did alot of research about the problem and others seem to have the same thing going on. I applied a couple of the suggestions and it seems to be better, but I haven't done alot on it since the changes to really tell.

Just incase others need/want to know: Go to the control page, then to mouse. Click on the mouse icon and there is a tab at the top for the touch pad. There you will find "Devise Settings" and then "settings". Click "Tapping" and remove the check from the box labled "Enable Tapping". For the sensitivity: Going the same route, look for "poperties" and expand to find "Sensitivity". Click on "Touch Sensitivity" and move the slider towards the "Heavy Touch". Make sure you have clicked "OK" after each change. FYI: This instructions are for the "classic view" in XP.

I personally do not like using the touch pad and on the netbook it is so small its even more difficult. Its just necessary because of not always being able to use a mouse. Believe me I will be getting a mouse to use when we can!! I love my Logitech mouse I have for my laptop and that is what I will be getting :o)
