I would take anything off of the wreath that screams Christmas or "holiday" and leave the green wreath up until it starts to turn brown. You can spritz the wreath with some water to keep it fresh and green longer. If you like decorative bows on your wreaths, visit your local craft or fabric store for a wintery ribbon. Like sjt2900, our home sits back very from the street so anything hanging on the door is because I like a welcoming entrance. We also have a side entrance which provides direct access to the house from the driveway. The side entrance has a covered porch and wood door which is similar to that of our front door. I've found that this entrance confuses people who visit our home for the first time, as well as the delivery people. I use similar wreaths on both doors as family and friends use the side entrance rather than walking around to the front door entry. Overall, our home always feels a little bit "naked" after I put away the Christmas tree and holiday decor. Takes me a bit of time to get used to it. I enjoyed my3dogs' recent thread featuring her new mantle decor. That post has inspired me to go through things in the closets and drawers with a plan to change things up a bit post-holiday. Can't wait for the weekend when I'll have a bit of time to "shop" the things I already have stowed away.

Actually, what is the top of the door like? I hang things from the top of my mahogany-veneer closet doors by attaching the wire or cord to the top edge of the door. It's wood, so I can just use a staple-gun staple, or a little nail that I pound nearly flush. There's just enough of a gap that the door will close. Also, if you can get the Command hook to stick on the inside of the door (up near the top), you could probably use poster putty or Quake Wax to keep the wreath from swinging around. It might not be enough to hold it up, but it would probably hold it steady. Also: 3M now makes bathroom-capable adhesive strips for the Command line--one of those might stick to glass.

I have a new door since last summer and now none of my old wreaths seem to go. ItÂs Prairie or Mission style, a full panel of leaded glass, all straight lines, no curves. Most of what I see is too "organic" looking, especially if floral. I thought the square wreaths sounded promising but not sure they are much better for this. Maybe I just have to give up on the wreath idea, IÂm not sure what else to try.

If you already have a double pane door, the problem may not be the door. Before going into expense of adding another layer of drywall to the walls and ceiling and replacing the door, I would check other things. Like bathroom exhaust fan ducting...is it insulated? HVAC ducts. Plumbing vents. Gaskets on all the exterior wall switches & receptacles as well as ceiling lights. Recessed light cans? Pull a piece of door/ window trim and check that the space between the jamb and framing is insulated.
