LOL..raenjapan you are right, the wallpaper was pretty awful! I've still got the rest of the whole house to strip 1980s wallpaper from, but at least we have made a good start with the kitchen area. It is so nice to finally see the changes! Thanks for all the kind comments on the new powder room. The paint color made all the difference, in my opinion. We used the same color to accent the area behind the windows in the kitchen and the recessed area around the butler pantry. The paint was Behrs Currant Jam ICC-83. We bought it at Home Depot. Here is the formula mix they used: We used the same color around the kitchen windows: And also in the recessed area around the butler pantry, which is just a little way from the powder room in the kitchen. After living with all that wallpaper for 20 years it is so nice to have painted walls now!

I actually painted one of the doors (to the garage so it was way too heavy for me to tackle) without taking it down first this weekend and was amazed at how great the gray color of the primer looked, especially against the gray walls and white trim. If I wouldn't have already painted a few others black, I would have been tempted to go out and pick up some gray paint to finish them off. Just a thought for the faint of heart who aren't ready to commit to the black.

I am so off to Harbor Freight this weekend...so the edge ended up *polished* with that treatment? Do you know what grit it was? And the edge was all by hand, no electricity? WOW. I'm baffled. And tentatively inspired : ) WAIT: was this it? (see link) So you all went to 600 grit max? I have to say, it's a really interesting approach to sanding. Did it leave lines? Maymo, so glad you came here and shared your Candy Land Bath. Love your red lights in there and all your decorations are so pretty. I'm enjoying all the cute ginger houses this year.

Very nice! The only thing I'd do is add a white doily (you can buy them in paper too) or a Christmas colored placemat to set on the counter and put your decorations on it. Doing so will make it look like a grouping/vignette.

I'd also add a lot more candy canes to the garland. Other than that it's great!

Thanks everyone. I slid a placemat underneath to unify everything. Glad oldalgebra liked the book! I'm ALWAYS looking for more candy ornaments to add.

I thought I'd posted before but looks like I didn't.
The Candyland Powder Room is really cute. Tho it'd probably make me want a snack after going in there, LOL.

Hope you find lots more candy ornaments, sounds fun to
hunt for.

I really like your candyland theme too, and you've got some cute pieces. I'm sure it makes it fun for anyone who goes in there. I think it looks nice, maybe add a few sprigs of greenery on your counter and shelves, other than that I can't think of a thing. ;o) Luvs
