I love the idea above, but have one of my own...........LOL Maybe you could put it in a large basket of bread mixes, cake mixes, or muffin mixes, all that you make up in a jar, like cake mix in a jar, or something like that, and add the potholders, dishtowels, baking pans, whatever, go crazy with it, make it a big basket, decorate it all up!

But "unique" doesn't mean that the giver "exerted an extra effort to think what gift is appropriate to him/her." I don't think that's what posters mean when they ask for help with ideas of "unique" gifts -- how could someone on an internet forum help think of a particularly appropriate gift for people they don't even know? Personalization does make the gift unique in a technical sense, I suppose, but I doubt that seeing my initials on some doodad would mean all that much to me or make me feel more valued than a non-personalized gift would. I think posters asking for ideas for "unique" gifts mean they want something that hasn't been given before. For all we know, they are planning to give the same "unique" gift to all the attendants. If what you want is to be "unique," then give the guy a porcupine. But if what you want is to give a gift that will make the recipient feel valued (whether for a wedding or any other occasion), then stop worrying about coming up with a unique or clever idea and just think of what will please him/her, not make you look creative. I would rather have a beautiful pen or piece of jewelry -- notwithstanding that those are common gifts for an attendant -- than something chosen solely because it is unusual. I especially like getting a different thing for each attendant, chosen especially for his/her tastes and interests. I think it is nice when brides and grooms show that they know they are not the only important ones by choosing gifts that shows they think of their friends and relatives as individuals whose own lives and interests are important, not just their role as attendants in the wedding entourage. That's why the worst gifts are the ones engraved or printed with the bridal couple's names, wedding date, etc.

I have folded and poked dollar bills into a styrofoam cone to make a "christmas tree". But we don't have dollar bills any more...just one dollar Loonie coins. For those I have wrapped 50 individually in little boxes, which were packed into slightly larger boxes and into a giant box LOL. It ALL had to be unwrapped. Took a long time, and I laughed my arse off as the person grumbled (good naturedly though, we all thought it was fun). Another time I wrapped my favourite sweater(that happened to be completely despised by the recipient) with money in the pocket. When she unwrapped the sweater and stared at it, I told her she commented on my sweater so much that she must LOVE it, and decided to give it to her! Even made her put it on for a picture. Bwa-ha-ha-haaa! She was too dumbfounded to say she didn't like it. Then I told her to put her hand in the pocket. We all had a great laugh about that one too. Then I demanded my sweater back ;). Dances.

I second a gift of real ginger chews from the "Ginger People" as a stocking stuffer for all your ginger lovers out there. I got my husband a huge bag one year for Christmas. Probably too late for ordering now, but if you ever see them in a store, great products. That's the actual name of the company, Ginger People. I had to run out to find some sympathy cards and the only place they sell them in my town is either the mart marts which I was not going near, or the chain pharmacies, since we no longer have locally owned ones in business. Just as a side note, Rite Aid had a marvelous selection of gifts and Christmas decorations. Nicer than any of the big boxes in town. Some nice toys and books and activity books, specialty magazines, ornaments, etc. We really dialed down Christmas shopping this year due to financial austerity, but if you are looking for some last minute stocking stuffers, that was a surprisingly nice place to go. Lots of interesting toiletry products too. My husband has very little sense of smell so I don't get him fancy nice scented things, but they had some cool body washes and scented soaps and aftershaves. Natural products. My one suggestion of a last minute gift that I always loved getting as a kid were the candy Lifesaver "books" of assorted flavors of rolls. They now have activity pages too. I just loved the glamor of having so many types of Lifesaver candy. It combined my two loves, books and candy!
