We love going to Mardi Gras and I have a ton of beads and had fun decorating with those this year too.

Everything is very pretty and festive. We do the same thing with Mardi Gras beads - we have so many and I don't know what else to do with them. One Christmas my DIL cut them apart and put them in clear glass ornaments, tied a small bow on them and put them on the trees.

Oh, really pretty! I love the swag over the outer french doors.

And now I know what to do with my Mardi Gras beads from years ago! I still have them, but haven't used them for decorating.

nancybee_2010: As in most of my decorating projects, I had it 98% complete, but your question gave me the nudge to finish the remaining 2%. I had tried out and returned several pots before settling on just the right one and transplated my other plant in it. I also decided to keep the old photos in my bedroom since I liked them there and bought a new frame that coordinated better with my candlesticks. That 2% remaining was to pick the photo to put in the frame--finally I decided to put last year's Christmas family photo there as I felt the sepia photos didn't look so good in the gold frame, though if others think sepia is better I can scan and tweak this photo for a sepia version. I should probably still tweak the bookcase some more, but it works for what I need it to do which is store books and photo albums. The photo albums don't fit on the lower shelves so I'm stumped how to change it without just storing the photo albums in a closet and then they are not out for people to see. As for the dining room, I did keep the red vase. I love how the light reflects in it. I may add some more vases at some point when the bulb actually dies, but so far it's hanging in there. cliff_and_joann: Thanks for the compliments and feedback. As you see above I did swap out the green vase. Your home is an inspiration to me--esp. your tablescapes. I've been following your DR chairs makeover with interest and can't wait to see the results! On another note, I recently got a new camera and am very excited that I am finally able to take pictures of window shots without the background getting washed out!

It looks better without the trolley, but I would move the bed back toward the window about 1/2 of the way of the space that's there now, so the bed isn't so tight up against the dresser (or tight up against the wall. I'd reconsider gold for your mirror frame as you will then have black and gold and turquoise, but no repeat of any of them (although I do see there is some gold hardware on the dresser). What about a black framed mirror to repeat the black of the bed? I think black would look great above the turquoise. If you want more colors, what about print draperies with other colors, but including the turquoise? I'm imagining you're a young person and might want something fun? then pick a color from the fabric to use on the bed, either a throw or pillows if you're keeping the white (I would).

It was rather overcast today but I don't like photos taken with artificial light; the colors are all off. It's supposed to rain tomorrow (a godsend in our drought-stricken so. CA location) so it may take a while to have new photos that are better.. I've just made some slight changes but (maybe just in my fevered imagination) the color scheme already looks a little more cohesive. Ouch about the wall color as I just recently had it painted. The other two rooms visible in one photo are painted with SW Sea Salt. It's not readily visible but the wall behind the couch and the fireplace wall are painted a darker color in order to make the fireplace stand out. lisaam, forgive me but I can't quite place you, blame it on an aging brain. You're not the Lisa from the rose forum, are you? Different name there, but perhaps the same person? It seems like a lifetime ago that I posted on the houzz decorating site, but I'm glad that the everything-gray mania has at least subsided. That was really grim. The new trend now is more color, and grandmillennial is now in vogue, although I haven't seen any evidence of it here yet. Most decor is either all pale or has dark couches and chairs, and I'm not enamored of either.

I love the way you have the ball ornaments hanging off the swag over the interior door, it's a nice dimensional effect. Everything is very warm and festive, love the old-fashioned traditional stuff you've got.

Everything looks festive and inviting. The beads in the windows really add a nice touch of sparkle, and I love the lush swag in the doorway too. Love your hutch--looks like you might have some "dishes" to share with us too. You know we love to see pretty dishes and table scapes too. ;o) Luvs

A family friend does heavy duty Xmas decorating with multiple trees, and one of her trees is a Mardi Gra tree.
its so neat and festive! And sure different for someone living in Phoenix. LOL.

Some of the ornaments on the swag is from grandparents trees. I put them high so little fingers can't get them LOL
I love Mardi Gras. We stay at my brothers home through the month. We have a ball.
