I can't read my email......

I have Mozilla and Thunderbird. Now when I click on my email it won't come up. A message appears that says 'Sorry, Thunderbird had a problem and crashed". It says to tell Mozilla about it so they can fix it. I did, and they didn't. What do I do now? Can I uninstall Thun. and reinstall it? If I do, will my messages be erased? I can access my mail thru Charter, but not my older mail. I have Windows Vista Business. Thank you.

What version of TB do you have? TB v10 is the current full-release version.

I normally don't recommend over writes, but in this case I would recommend over writing with the current version. Historically all your settings and data will be retained. However, if there are any e-mails important to you I would first print them out.

You should to be able to access your email on the Charter site. Unless they've changed. Charter.com > my account > probly same password as your client account. I've did that alotta times.

You should use the "contact us" link at the bottom of the page to tell the managers of this site to fix the problem. They don't read any of these forums.

Is it at all possible you backed it up using the wrong suffix? Do you still have the original file on your hard drive. If you did give it the wrong suffix and you still have the original file on the hard drive simply burn it to the CD again with the correct suffix. If you deleted the original then copy the messed up file back to the hard drive and rename it with the correct suffix, then burn it again.

When you report a problem for them to fix, it just means you are making them aware of what might be a wider problem, and, if they get enough reports, they may modify the software for everybody at some point. It doesn't mean you they are going to assign a programmer to fix your specific problem right now.
