Our office computer does the same thing with our camera's card. So we need to track it down manually. (don't know why.) Open Computer or My Computer, whichever the case may be Look for the car's folder there; when found, click it.

When swapping the settings on your camera I assume you have tried the very highest settings? This will give you as good a photo as possible from the camera. Regarding the software and viewing the photo. Are the 'swirls' emanating from a central point and moving out like ripples? Is so this may very well be to do with your flash. Most digital cameras have the flash activated by default and so many users never turn them off. A camera flash is only any good for a few short feet, after that they are basically useless I find. Try taking some shots without the flash, you will need to support the camera or practise standing very still because the shutter will stay open longer in lower light. If you are trying to save a few important photos already taken you might try to resample a shot and set the pixel density to 150 or even 300 to see if that helps eliminate the ripples and wavy lines. JASC may use a different term for resampling, Corel uses Resample, Paint uses Attributes. Same soup just different gravy :-)

Resolve Problems Transferring Pictures If you are having problems transferring pictures from your camera, dock, printer, or card reader, try the suggestions below. § All devices. Make sure all batteries are fresh. Make sure all cables are securely connected. § Camera. If an error message indicates that no pictures are on the camera, make sure it is turned on. § Camera dock or printer dock. Remove the camera from the dock, then securely replace it. Press the dock Transfer button. § Photo printer. If printing starts but doesn't complete, press the Transfer button on the printer. § Card reader. Use only one slot at a time in a multiple-slot card reader § EasyShare software. Make sure the Kodak icon is in the lower-right corner of the desktop. If not, choose Start ® Programs or All Programs ® Kodak ® Kodak EasyShare ® Kodak EasyShare software. If EasyShare software doesn't open and display the transferred pictures, do the following: 1. Right-click the Kodak icon in the lower-right corner of the desktop. 2. Select Open and click the Add Pictures icon. 3. Select your device from the Select a location list. If the problem persists, visit www.kodak.com/go/easysharesupport. Hope you are able to resolve your problem. When you remove a memory card from a camera and put it into a reader, be very careful not to perform any operation that 'writes back' to the card. For example, you may have opened an image into photoshop or MicroSoft's photo viewer and made some minor adjustments. When you went to delete the image, the software asks, "Do you want to save?" If you answer, "Yes", the image gets written back to the card and this may spoil its propertiary format. When this happens, the only solution is to re-format the card and loose all images on it. You may have to, with the card in the camera, delete all images before it will re-format. If the card is so messed up that the camera's software will not touch it, try this: Put the card in the external card reader and delete all images, then see if the camera will re-format the card. Make sure there are no files ledt on the card set to 'read only'. Scrapeing the gold plated contacts is not recommended for two reason: Typical gold plating for this kind of application is about 5 microms thick. Any thinner, and you would be able to see through the plating. Scratching it rubs through the plating and may carry embedded comtaminants to the contacts in the camera. The secomd problem is static discharge. Minute static charges impressed on the contacts can ruin the card. The best policy is do not touch the contacts. By the way, I also use an external card reader to extract images from the card. I copy the images to a hard drive or other storage device and for the lack of a better term, call these my master copies. I do all my editing on copies from the 'master file', keeping the master copy intact and never witting back to it. Thus, if my edit gets messed up, I merely get another copy and play with it. You may want to consider setting the master copy to 'read only'.
