I'm sorry, I hope someone else will be able to help with your formatting issues, but if you get desperate :) you can take a screen shot and save it into a recipe folder. I don't have a K Fire but just learned about this on the ipad and thought maybe the Fire would do it, too. It seems that it does.

generally what I do is just clicking the share icon and select my email and email it to myself, then I can access it from anywhere.

I found an app I am liking called springpad I use it for my recipes.

But to answer your question check out google cloud print. Read this link for some options.

Evenshade - I tried what you suggested. It was tricky pressing both places simultaneously and took a couple of times, but, then, it worked!

Ravencajun - I also tried your suggestion. Couldn't get into my gmail acct for some reason. Maybe my s-l-o-w typing.... Looked at springpad. Seems like a great program, but I won't be using my Kindle as a notebook.

After being able to capture some screen shots, checked the files in Kindle on my computer and, since they are in the PNG format, I will be able to print out pages. Whee. (Am pretty sure, though, that I won't be downloading any more cookbooks on my toy.)

Mary and Evenshade - Thank you both. I was just wondering which good "how to" books other Kindle Fire owners had discovered and your links will undoubtedly answer my question. (How 'they' can sell a $200 electronic device and not provide an owner's manual is beyond me. Looked on the Amazon site and there are other manuals available, but not one for the Kindle Fire.)

There is an owner's manual, it's right on the device, look in your documents or at least with my first generation fire it is and you can also download a manual for any of the kindles right from the amazon site.
The forums on amazon and the site has any kind of help you need for the kindle and are so great. There are a ton more than just kindle froums too, general amazon help and stuff like that so browse around amazon.

Also if you didn't know it they offer one paid app free every day so check the app store from you device daily, might find something good for free each day. Mary

yes all tablets I have bought had the manual on the device but is generally available from the manufactures site in pdf format.

surely the Kindle fire has a share icon? on my tablets it is a v shape turned sideways click it and you have the options of how to share it, email, facebook, Bluetooth, etc, just click the method like email and your email pops up with the link or whatever you are sharing in the email just select who you want to send it to. I use that method all the time so then I can access it from anywhere I can access my email.

If she is trying to print a recipe from with in a cookbook she downloaded from amazon there is probably no share Icon to do that, copyrights and stuff I think. The newer HD kindles I think have blutooth so if you have a wireless printer that might work but not sure if it will let you print from with in a book. With the kindle app for PC you could do a screen capture in the book then print. I know this has been talked about on the amazon forums so search printing from kindle on the forums. Mary

Thank you acraftylady Mary. I had looked on amazon, but all they have for my Kindle Fire HD 7" is a 2-page quick start (and the second page is nothing). They apparently don't have an owner's manual. Here's what I found:

I was able to do as evenshade instructed. Took a tricky screenshot, then found it in the Photo folder of my Kindle after connecting same to my desktop. It was a format that I can print.

Ravencajun - I don't use any of my portable devices for emails and I guess I'm just stingy because I haven't 'shared' anything -- although I do share materials with family and friends by attaching them to the emails I send via my desktop computer. (As a typist who learned on a very heavy manual jobber, I'm so much more proficient on keys that are larger than the tip of a match. LOL)

The full manual should be on the device. If it's not there go to the forum link I gave and on the right click contact us and have them call you and help you to find it. They will call you back pretty quick that way and help. I started out with a million questions over there last year then became a forum pro and all the other forum pros are so nice and helpfull so don't be afraid to ask anythig silly or not. Mary

Did find a manual of sorts on the Kindle -- Apps > Help & Feedback > User Guide. Wanted to know more about Music, but "Loading. Please wait..." - never did.... The other topics appeared. If I had a photogenic memory, putting a manual on an electronic device would be great. I need a printed page right next to the thing I'm trying to learn how to use! LOL

I had previously looked at several links shown in the search engine for "Kindle Fire HD Owner's Manual" and other similiar wording. Found several places that wanted to sell the manual. No thanks. Just looked again and found the manual in PDF format by the nice people/person at Manual Buddy. Printed that out, but decided I'd still like to know more. (Guess there's no pleasing some people. :) ) Went shopping at (what's becoming my home away from home) Amazon and bought 2 paperbacks: My Kindle Fire HD by Jim Cheshire and Kindle Fire HD: The Missing Manual by Peter Meyers. There! If I can't learn more with bigger print and colorful pictures -- well, there's no hope for me. Ha

ok I think you keep missing my entire point, YOU DO NOT have to share anything with anybody, this is a very simple way for you to get an item from the tablet to your pc for say printing easily. You are sharing it WITH YOURSELF, which is why you select your own email and enter the to field to your own email address!!
Not utilizing your email account from the tablet is making it harder on yourself and there is really no reason for it.
Hopefully some of the books you ordered will help you understand better how easy it is and how beneficial it will be.

Well for me all I needed to know outside the manual I asked on those forums and got wonderfull help this past year for anything that confused me. Now I am a helper as they made me a forum pro helper.

I usually just plug my kindle into the PC and drag and drop files like photos to the PC but as said you could use email. If I need to send a file from my PC to my kindle like a word document or PDF I use the send to kindle PC app, they also have one for MAC too.

Once intstalled it's very handy. On the PC you just right click your file and kindle will be in the list and you pick that and it sends then make sure you are connected to wifi and wait a minute and it pops up on the kindle.

You might consider getting the kindle reader app for PC then do the screen shot in that and save on the computer as JPEG and print from the computer.

Another handy thing to get from the app store is ES file manager. I can't live with out this for organizing documents and stuff on the kindle as I have some stuff outside of amazon I side loaded so helps me keep it organzied. Mary

ravencajun - I did get your point. I was trying to use humor to say I don't want to use my Kindle for sending emails - to myself or anyone else - but guess it missed the mark. I'm shaking and my heart is racing at your last remarks.

I have sent music and videos from my pc to my Kindle, but no documents.

I'll have to check to see if I have the Kindle Reader ap.

Ok I searched and what you found under help, feedback, user guide is the full manual for the HD. Another great place for info is youtube. Can find a lot of videos by people on how to do things on the kindle.

Nothing comes with a paper manual anymore. My friends son bought her a droid phone for Christmas and she hated there was no paper book for it. She found a site online that sells manuals for the various things and bought a spiral bound manual for the phone,.

All they did was print out the PDF file that she could access and they put the spiral on and charged her $20 but she felt better having and reading a paper copy. Mary

I have bought several inexpensive three ring binders in which I store the printed PDF manuals that I have printed out. Sort of a pain, but handy if you need a printed manual for reference.
