Favorite 36 inch frameless induction cooktop?

I am not finding many "frameless" models. For example, the Wolf and Diva are framed. Can anyone recommend a frameless model? Thanks!

GE Monograms are frameless, and WindCrest are mostly frameless (have a 'matching rear frame'). Not sure of any others.

The Fagor can be purchased with or without trim. The KitchenAid is frameless.

I've been cooking on my Diva 36 inch for 5 months and really like it. I've had great results. It's very powerful and I have to remember to keep the heat on lower settings in order not to burn my food. It delivers more heat than I had expected. I only put it on full power if I need to quickly bring something to a boil. Then, I turn it down to actually cook what I intend to cook. It brings water to a boil quickly. I'm so happy I don't have to clean grill grates...did that for years and hated it. I'm very pleased with the Diva so far. I bought a large set of Al clad pans at Macy's for $420. I think the best set of pans that I found were at William Sonoma. They were the brushed nickel pans made for induction. However, they were around $800 for the set. I also picked up a few no name brands pots from TJ Max and Home Goods. They seems to work just as well as the all clad for boiling pasta etc. I definitely think it's worth the investment to buy a really good non-stick frying pan. Macy's also has a set of pans made specifically for induction that were priced less than $300.

The main differences in the cooktops (besides price) are (1) Wolf has a control layout that I prefer--I like the touchpad on the side, (2) texture vs. slick top, and (3) timers on the Miele actually turn off burners, but not on the Wolf. I only know that from excessive shopping, not actual use. And I know less about ovens, but I wouldn't feel compelled to get matching brands unless the separate units were both what you wanted. Half off sounds nice...But it's OK to go half Wolf and half Miele unless they look really bad together.

I also have the Jenn-Air 36" cook-top with two "bridge" elements. I love the induction but am totally unhappy with the supposedly bridge elements. The space between the burners does not heat up as in non-induction bridge elements. When you turn on the "bridge" element all it does is control the two burners at the same time. So my griddle has two hot spots - the pancakes cook poorly in the other non-heated areas. We'll probably opt for an electric countertop griddle as stir_fryi suggests.

kekramer, I definitely use my CSO more than the M series. While I love the M series convection, the CSO heats up faster and is waaaayyyy more versatile. I am also a bread baker and this oven is a game changer for me (I have broken oven glass in prior ovens by spilling water on the glass trying to introduce steam lol). You can get EXCELLENT results with bread in this oven. There have been multiple threads on Houzz about how to get the best bread baking results with a CSO, and here is my method. I run the steam first for about 10 minutes, making sure that the oven cavity is good and steamy with plenty of condensation on the bottom of the oven. Then I load the bread loaf (or loaves), put it on auto steam bake, and find that the excess water in the oven provides even more spring to the loaf after the beginning steam phase is over and has cut over to higher baking temps. The Wolf CSO has another mode called "Convection Humid" which is great for quick breads. It seals the cavity during Convection so that steam cannot escape, thus making the bread more moist. Muffins and quick breads really shine in this mode. Side note, I use my M series to proof bread. The proof function works really well. If you make jams and jellies, the steam oven can also be used to do the canning step in replacement for a boiling water bath (BWB). The jars can be steamed to sanitize before filling, and then steamed at 210 degrees for 30 minutes. It works great, and best of all, no tip overs and sealing failures.

Wow, Fagbor may be the one for me! I spoke with the company, and there is only a 2 inch clearance requirement (and wall oven can go underneath), AND it only sticks above counter a quarter inch (full flush mount not possible). Thanks!

A wall oven can go under the GE's as well. I had my Profile cooktop(frameless) installed today, and it looks fabulous!

Congrats Moose. Can you put any brand wall oven underneath, or only GE ovens?

Wellll...naturally they say GE wall ovens, but who is to say you can't put any wall oven underneath? Of course, they might consider it an issue if repairs under warranty occur. Best to check and find out for sure.

There is a version of the Gaggenau 36" cooktop that is frameless.

Fagor owns Brandt who makes the induction tops not only for Fagor, but for Diva, Windcrest, Wolf, DiDietrich and others. Of course all new technology would default to Fagor first

You've probably made a decision, but Kitchenaid makes a 36" frameless induction cooktop. Ours was installed right after Thanksgiving, and I just love it. It's easy to clean and I like the configuration of the hobs. I'm not certain why no one mentions Kitchenaid on this forum - we're thrilled with ours.

Just to update this thread, I've been looking for a frameless 36" induction cooktop to mount flush with the counter. So far, the only ones I've found are:

- Wolf
- Miele
- Gaggenau
- GE Profile/Monogram

The first 3 are pricey, and the last I worry a little about QC/reliability. I think Fagor sits ~1/4" up on the countertop, so that's close.

Of the lot, I think I prefer the Wolf the most. It needs just over 6" clearance underneath, so there may be some rejigging of the cabinetry, but the controls were easy, and the patterning on the ceran top looked good and (hopefully) would help hide any scratches.

Any others to consider that I might have missed?
