Thanks folks! binsb - the door is 6-panel solid pine, stained - I can't remember the stain color. Mariposa - the glass door is a PITA. But we really like the way it looks, so we "deal." It must be squeegeed after every use or the water spots become impossible to clean off. But we have hard water here. Perhaps you don't have hard water. Funny story - DH insists on showering before me every day becase he HATES to squeegee. I don't mind it. As a matter of fact, I also squeegee the marble tiles so they don't get the spot build-up.

Hi Kvil...as far as I know (and I am so not an authority), the honed is a smooth surface, it's just not shiny. Whereas the brush, while also not shiny, has a rough finish to it. We actually got the top from the place that built our cabinet for us - I know we overpaid, but it was a lot easier to have them do it. I know brushed is gaining in popularity - I'm sure you can find it if you look around - it really is a nice look and feel. I know there are a few other types too - antiqued, riverwashed, etc. It's enough to make you crazy!

Thanks, Rockies and Asheysf. Rockies, we put in a Milgard window, Vinyl Clad. Highly recommended for moist areas. Make sure you get obscure glass. The cultured marble shower pan does come in custom sizes. South Bay Showers (Martin Ave near SJ airport) have them. They do come in custom sizes though custom sizes were at least 50% more expensive than noncustom. (We got it from another vendor but we had a bad experience with them therefore I would not recommend going to them.) Regarding shower pan, some time back there was a thread here re. Onyx pans and a company that sells them online. Ditto with glass enclosures. I would have liked to go that route, if it were not for very long lead times (6 weeks or so). One more comment: While we love our Smedbo fixtures, I have to say that they do not feel as heavy as Hansgrohe/Grohe faucets. These companies make similar accessories as Smedbo though they cost 3x if not more. Be mindful of that. Having said that, I am VERY happy with my Smedbo. Great look at great price. Once the rods/bars are fixed, it does not matter how heavy they are anyway since they are fixed. Just my opinion.
