In need of Bare hallway I need to finish
Comments (9)The first thing I notice is the warm rust color on the wall before entering the hallway. the hallway color appears in the photo and my monitor to be cold and sterile. I might be wrong bc color is something that usually does not translate well from seeing it in person to posting on a forum. I would warm up that hallway with a warm color such as Beverly's first photo. I love pretty much all of the items in that photo. The rug is beautiful and there is art but it is not overwhelming. Hope that helps!...See MoreTiling over old tile in hall bathroom that is lower than hall
Comments (18)@Angela - The OP's first paragraph stated marble over a concrete slab. " I really think you should remove the old tile." Why? If it's set properly It should last the lifetime of the structure. Bonding to it is not a issue. You'd need to remove the underlayment/top layer of subfloor to even the floor anyway after you rip out tile. If this was wood framed how could you determine that without knowing what underlayment was used and condition after rip out? Plywood, mud bed, CBU's, uncoupler, antifracture membrane etc. The OP is trying to gain height. Most likely you can leave the underlayment in and apply a self leveling underlayment on the top to achieve desired height....See MoreI need advice on what color to do my stairs/upstairs hallway.
Comments (3)I see you’re not getting much response here so I’ll jump in. I feel that the gray/black vinyl floor trend is out of favor now, but obviously since you already have it (and like it) you should choose something to blend with those colors. Is there another option you might consider, besides more vinyl plank? A deep gray carpet maybe?...See MoreMy hallway windows are at 48". Do I need shades to block the view?
Comments (29)The shades are operated manually. They have small tab handles at the top of the shade and the bottom. In between is an accordian pleated shade. You just pull up the top to wherever you want it, as high as you can reach. You can pull the bottom all the way down to the sill, or raise it up it too. It is fixed on tracks in the window frame. If you want, you can have a long stick in case somebody wants to push them to the 10ft height. But I assume the bedroom doors shut if people want darkness in the morning. Whenever I travel I shut the curtains or blinds where I am at night. If I were in the hall in your rental, I would want the entire view of me and inside the apartment not visible from the street if I really didn't know the neighborhood. I wouldn't want frosted glass that allowed people to see my shadow moving around, alone....See Morecreek_side
