XP sp2 Professional - HP computer...C5180 all-in-one HP printer. I've never gotten a red x before when I went to print something. It was up on the screen and the picture showed just the way I wanted it and it seemed to be printing, but all I got was a box where the picture "should" have been and a little red x up in the corner..any ideas?

What program were you using to display the picture on your screen? Could you right click on the picture and select 'Print preview'?

Word...the print preview showed both pictures arranged the way I wanted them printed...one printed and the other came up with a red x...I've just never had this happen before and couldn't figure a way around it.

I save my images online to imageshack and they definitely support animation. So you can right click on the picture and choose save as to your pc, then go to imageshack and select the upload from pc option, browse to that image file on your pc where ever you put it and select it to upload. It will then upload it to imageshack and will give you all the codes you need to use in forums such as this one, with this forum you would select the code with html which is called sites code on imageshack. I've read different things. One was update your java and remove any older java that you have in - Control Panel - Add and Remove Hardware. Go here and click on the words (do I have java) http://java.com/en/download/download_the_latest.jsp Others reasons explained at these 2 websites. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283807 http://www.askbobrankin.com/red_x_appears_instead_of_image.html I have found that if I open Outlook Express I can see the pictures. Open Outlook Express - Tools - Options - Security Tab - Un Check Block Images and other external content Do you have AOL or what? If you have AOL, Internet service other than AOL send picture they may or may not show up. If they don't show in AOL they probably will show in Outlook Express. For me they always show up in Outlook Express.

Maybe but it is also possible that picture is on a web site and the photo is not their anymore...

It's a picture I scanned...just a snap shot and not copyrighted...the printer seemed to be printing and then all I would have is a box where the picture should have been and a red x...I went back and check the print preview and all was fine with it there
