Yes, get what you want, and, what goes with your house. I am in the process of updating the upstairs bathroom which my son will use. He wanted something modern looking, shiney chrome, which was a good choice to compliment the color scheme that he chose. My Master bathroom has polished nickel which was a good choice because it's a bit more subtle then chrome, and warm. The warmth of the polished nickel goes very well with the creama marfil and cream cabinets that I chose. So...the decision comes down to personal preference, plus what finishes are appropriate for your house and room. Every finish goes out of style and comes back...even brass is making a resurgence! Have fun with your project!

I love chrome and went with Kohler in my shower and Hansgrohe for the sinks. I will tell you that the chrome in the shower wipes clean with no spotting and the Hansgrohe does not wipe clean as easily. For my second bathroom I'm doing Hansgrohe in the shower (I love the valve that they have...it's a 3-in-one and is already installed) and will have to deal with any cleaning issues. I'm not sure which faucet I will go with for that sink. I think that no matter what the finish, or the manufacturer...they all clean up (and last) differently. Having said all this...I love the look of the choices that I made for my MB.

I haven't mixed them myself, but I'm currently considering buying a Grohe faucet & Hansgrohe shower head/ diverter/ etc for our master bath renovation. I went to a store that sold both recently & compared the 2 finishes side by side; they looked extremely similar, so you may be able to pull this off!

Knelly great faucet choice. When we were doing the bathroom three yrs ago we thought about nickel. However we were also talked out of it by our designer for the same reason. Friends of ours had very expensive nickel fixtures in their bathroom and we really liked them because at the time it was different. I am glad that we took the advice of our designer because after a few years all of the shower heads and faucets in our friends bathroom have (IMO) tarnished. It reminds me of how brass turns. They love patina so its not a problem for them. We like a clean look especially in a bathroom. If we had seen the combination of finishes like Knelly has we may have gone that route. I don't think it was available at the time because we shopped plumbing fixtures to death.
