Snowman sign

Recycled this sign. Got it at TS several months ago. It was blue with ducks on it. I ran across this snowman pattern while looking though some of my old Christmas mags. Decided it would be the perfect thing for my wooden sign, so sanded it off and got busy painting. Please excuse the shadows on the bottom of the pic, didn't see them until I had already uploaded it. Jeanne, not sure how I missed this post but it all looks great. The angel is an adorable cp with the mercury glass candle holders. Your getting alot of neat settings with those. Santa pictures are a wonderful addtion to your snowman decor. Looks like they used insulators on for the hooks? We made some of these with old wooden spools and door knobs that turned out pretty cute. So many neat things on the hooks and on the shelf. I swear girlfriend, you make everything look wonderful! Karen, so what color of legs have you decided on?LOL I would love it if your Christmas wish would could come true for you. I have gotten to the point I have issues with my legs when I'm on them to long. My knees have cracked for years and since I quit running they seem to be alot better. Now my waist and butt have a problem.haha Candy, we have replaced all of our closet rods and holders so I hear ya, girlfriend. I don't have a problem getting rid of clothes. I love giving them to friends and coworkers. Now I have to srart getting rid of dishes and decor tho.ouch! Punk

Thank you Sandi :) Well, the kind of items you can find here to make a Christmas village are really expensive and I think (not sure though) that there is only one store that sells these items. Low cost Christmas houses are generally broken or that are not part of an entire collection which means that if you buy such a house this year, next year you won't be sure to be able to buy a house from the same manufacture and the same designer. I have been shopping in a supermarket that made special sales for some things like the station I bought. There also was a funfair and, if I remember a house with kids playing with their Xmas gifts with a tree in the background. They were sold for 30 euros - $38. So the one I bought is a train that enters and exits the tunnel, the cars are filled with gifts, the station is located above and there are a few steps down to the train. It is also an illuminated and musical item that runs on batteries and/or power. Since I put the station on the dining table, I eat with music and lights, lol.

Wow! You are really painting up a storm, Phonegirl. Three projects in such a short time! Photobucket has been acting up lately and the "click to enlarge" sometimes doesn't work. We can try back later, and maybe it will be working. I like to know what artist's designs inspire a project too. And I love to see how each painter makes little changes and adds their own personal touch. I do that allot, but mine is usually just to "simplify" it a bit! Sometimes my final project will hardly resemble the original one--more from my lack of skill than any desire on my part to paint it differently! LOL So are these little angels going to be gifts for someone? I sure need to get busy on painting some more gift items too. So glad you are painting and sharing with us--hopefully it will shame me into getting busy so I'll have something to share soon too! ;o) Luvs

Belle, it does look like a tag, but it is a big sign about 8x10 I guess. Punk, I thought my lettering was terrible on this. I used a brush and paint and kept thinking I should have just used a marker. Lettering is NOT my thing--just ask Anj, I've always complained about my lettering on things! LOL I thought the couple looked cute and liked the saying--will be nice to hang on my lamp post in the front yard next year. Luvs

Glad you all enjoyed seeing him. I love Renee Mullins designs, easy to paint and so cute. I like the quick, easy things best--not patient enough for the really detailed projects! I like to have a few pieces painted and ready for holiday decorating or for gift items.

I get in "moods" to do things--right now I am in a painting mood. Trying to use up some of my stash of T2T items I have stuffed in the shed. Need some of it out of the way so I can get to the Christmas boxes! LOL You should see how many metal trays I have stashed out there waiting to be painted! OMG! Guess I love the thrill of hunting for things as much or more than the actual painting/creating with them! LOL I NEED to get busy!

Hi, I am new to this site and have been reading/looking at the threads in this forum. luvstocraft, you are very talented, I love your sign so much I think I will try one myself. I am enjoying this site so much, I can't get enough. I am so happy I found it! BTW....I am looking for a tole painting pattern of "Grinch and Christmas Tree" if anyone knows where I can find it....

Paintingmom, welcome to the forum. Lots of neat things and fun people here, I am sure you will enjoy it.

I responded to your question about the Grinch on the Painting forum, all I could suggest was a book or coloring book and enlarging the pic with projector. Hope that will work for you.

If you enjoy painting, be sure to check out the gallery section on the painting forum as well as the ones on the discussion side. And please add pics of your projects also.

That's such a smart thing to do-- to recycle others' not-so-effective thrifted art. I've seen plaques like the duck one you mentioned and never thought of the item that way.

Hi Jenn, it's just more of my "trash 2 treasure" mentality. And it's a cheap way to get some good wood pieces to paint on too! I always look at the cutouts and such, and watch for things like birdhouses too. Don't often find much that is really good. That's where having my scroll saw comes in handy. So what have you been finding lately? Guess I'd better head over to your blog and catch up. ;o) Luvs

Hi Luvs.... I saw a sign this weekend at a craft store, and you popped into my mind!!!! (LOL)
It was a longish rectangle, painted sky blue, with a smiling snowman on the left side and a fluff of snow across the bottom.
Lettered into the snow fluff was "Frosty and Me Welcome Thee"
I thought it was really cute!!

Hiya, Luvs!
I've been so busy with work lately, I haven't been thrifting too much. I did find a couple of Depression glass pieces not long ago-- one of which is this massive pink pressed glass vase which amuses me because from a distance it looks like a normal drinking goblet. Then you get close and realize it's about 18 inches high! That would be some beverage!

I've been trying to do another birdhouse windchime for someone. I'm not using silverware this time, but other kitchenalia. So we'll see how it goes.

Jaybird, that sounds like a cute sign. I love most anything with a snowman on it. However, I should confess that I am kinda picky about their faces! LOL I seen some that either the mouth or the eyes just bothered me. Picky, picky, I know. Do you have many craft type stores near you? We sure don't have many here anymore at all. There is a Harvest Festival coming soon that I hope to be able to go to. I like to see what's new and just enjoy the atmosphere.

Jenn, good luck on your windchime, can't wait for the pics. Your last one turned out really cute.
