Just keep in mind that when it's being used as a second oven it is not available as a MW (and vice versa). In your case, since it's either one oven + MW or one oven + MW/Convection, I think the combination would be useful. You might consider buying a small MW to use when the MW/Convection is being used as an oven. Install/store it in a pantry or basement and just use it when needed. As to under-counter. How is it working to have the MW under-counter right now? If it's working fine for you, then I don't think you'll be disappointed with the smart oven also in that location - one big "however" - can it be installed in an enclosed space the size of your MW alcove? Check its specs before you buy it to be sure it can actually be placed where you want it. Also, since these types of ovens usually get hot on the outside, be sure you can install it far enough inside so no part of it sticks out from the alcove to burn someone if they accidentally brush it with a leg or knee while at the counter. OK, the more I think about it, the less enamored I am with the idea...I wonder if it might be too dangerous and/or cause damage to the surrounding cabinetry due to heat... Do you know how hot it gets on the outside? I know our toaster oven gets quite hot. Perhaps someone who has "installed" it this way will chime in with real-life experience...

We're on our 3rd Panasonic microwave/convection oven over the past 30 years. It is a good size and I use the microwave part more, but really find the convection part handy when I do need a second oven. Also the combo function works well for quickly heating something without the typical microwave sogginess that sometimes goes with it for pizza or a wrap etc. Ours have lasted quite long although we only got about 13 years from the last one (first one was 19 years). So now we have a new one which is almost the very same as the last only in stainless steel and slightly different controls. They come in white and black also I believe.

My relatively inexpensive Panasonic that I bought a few months ago has the inverter technology. I don't notice it being better than my older countertop which lasted for years and worked well. I use a microwave principally for steaming veggies, reheating and cooking frozen foods. For cooking and reheating, I generally use 50% power anyway because otherwise I find the food cooks too unevenly and gets hard so lack of power is really not an issue for any microwave I've owned.

The wall oven and microwave drawer just fit into a standard 30" tall cabinet that is generally used to house wall ovens. I would imagine any cabinet line has that kind of cabinet. I went with the 30" model since it didn't seem to make sense to get the 27" drawer and a trim kit to fit a 30" cabinet. I guess if one is not specifically placing it in a 30" cabinet, having the smaller size makes sense as some people install the microwave drawer in an island. Sharp Microwave Drawer I think this is my model - there really isn't that much choice when you determine exactly what you want. I wanted the tilt up control - I wanted 30" and I didn't want (or need) the wave technology. I didn't pay list price for this as I was able to negotiate a good price since I was buying a lot of appliances at the same time. Bosch doesn't permit discount pricing but they often have rebates AND stores will provide a deep discount on another brand (e.g. the Sharp) so the net price is a discount. Sharp manufactures all microwave drawers so there is no point in spending more for a fancier name plate. It looks fine below the Bosch oven and matching appliances wasn't a concern for me anyway as I selected each appliance based on functionality. 30 IN. 1.2 CU. It's highly recommended for seniors because there is no heat generated so it's safer to use. It's also much easier to keep clean because there is no heat so things don't get burned on the way they do in a standard electric stove and of course far easier to clean than any kind of gas cooktop.
