Do Wolf's Ever Go On Sale?

My 36" range DF saga continues. I have narrowed it down to the KitchenAid ($3999) due to cheapness and good looks and the GE Monogram due to overall solid reviews and a decent price with the 1000 rebate offer ($5400) if you buy a Monogram blower. However, I have since realized Monogram blowers are possibly too weak and too small to use- I really want a 42 inch with good CFMs. So without the rebate and now that I have started leaning towards a grill configuration, the new quote came to $6800. Well at $6800, I think I am not not so far off from a Wolf price. And I have never even seriously considered a Wolf but if Im going to dump this much into a range maybe I should go with the brand that people might be more attracted to 10 years from now when I move. So I'm wondering if I should bother to look at a Wolf and if so, is there ever a deal?

For the past nine months or so Wolf has been running a promotion: 500 dollars off on the 30" range. Two dealers in NJ quoted me $7,959.00 for the Wolf DF 36" range.

no, not unless you find a seller with a display/discontinued model.

There is a promotion on 30" units right now but not on a 36. You're looking at about $10K if you go with Wolf

Berkeley Horticulture, near San Francisco, had an odd rose assortment this year. Hundreds of H.T.s and Floribundas and Shrubs, the usual suspects that they sell, in addition to a few roses that I went to at once, and ignored most of the moderns: R. banksia lutea, Mutabilis, R. glauca. "Mlle Cecille Brunner" which were marked down to $15 each, and I bought two for the price of one. They had dozens of cultivars of Austins, (Austin roses have lots of advertising) but I wasn't looking for Austin roses. c. 50 miles from me, Regans in Fremont California used to sell a few Old Garden Roses but these were hidden in the back of the nursery, 50 yards away from the rows of rosebushes for sale, and I asked why they had them put so far away I was told "No one buys them" - gee, I wonder why? There were no signs posted that even hinted that an old garden rose might be on the property and I had to ask, and be shown where they were hidden away. I bought a "Mme. Alfred Carriere" Rugosas, and a "Paul Neyron" beside a "Felicite Parm." If I'd been a newbie and bought Paul Neyron and F.P." I would have wondered why the Felicite Parm. never re-bloomed Luxrosa

This forum contains the diehard Hippeastrum collectors and growers, so this is more than just a disposable Christmas purchase to us! We're often willing to pay more for the larger, healthier named varieties, just as you would for any other plant type that was special. There are your common varieties that are available every season at the same places for the same low prices, but they're not always healthy, not always large, and don't always bloom. These are the Minerva, Apple Blossom, and Red Lion bulbs. Walmart, Lowe's, Meijer's, and other large retail stores carry them every year, just before Christmas. Don't get me wrong... the common varieties are every bit as lovely as the more expensive varieties, but these are usually the ones everyone begins with, so we all have them... in numbers! They're still worthy of collecting, but are always available. The cybisters, some doubles, and some of the other varieties are harder to find sometimes... different bulb companies carry different ones, and though many are relatively the same price, others are more and others are less. How much you're willing to pay is dependent on how bad you want the bulb, and how available it is. The offerings of many companies changes from year to year, so we normally grab 'em when we see 'em!

I believe Weber enforces a specific price point for their grills so you should expect similar prices at authorized retailers and etailers. At least this was my experience about 2 years ago. The only time I have ever see Webers on sale is at the end of the grilling season. I got mine for quite a bit off but it was a floor model which they needed to clear out for next year's model. I have been very satisfied with it so I hope you will be as well. I have also found Weber to have good customer service. BTW, you do not get around sale tax by buying from an out of state etailer. It is highly likely you live in a State that has Use Tax. It is basically sales tax that was not collected by the seller and by law, you are supposed to report your out of state purchases and pay the tax. In practice, it is not easy for States to enforce.

I have purchased several things from them, but no sales as far as I know. I was surprised to find out that all of their curtains aren't made by them. I was searching for their curtains one day, and found them on several other websites. Evidently, some of there curtains are made in their factory, but some are just mass produced and available from several places. Try just searching by the name of the curtain and see if they come up somewhere else. May be cheaper elsewhere

Is it only the DF in 30 or does it also cover AG in 30 inch?

I just got a quote for wolf 36" 5 burner cooktop, 30" e series single oven w/convection for a total of $5400.

Hi Sayde, When we bought our 30" Wolf in January 2010 the 500 dollar rebate (plus a free glide rack) was valid for both the DF and AG. It looks like the Wolf may have replaced that rebate with an new discount program that required you to buy muliple subzero/Wolf appliances to get a discount.

Where are you located? We got our 36" AG at Liebert's Royal Green in White Plains, NY because their price was significantly lower than the NJ store where we had purchased our appliances originally. This was ~3 yrs ago.

Out west the DF is $4999 and the gas is $3999

Aprince, Where out West? I'm in CA. I've been told that Wolf keeps the same price at all stores and doesn't allow the retailers to discount. The price I've got for a 36" drop-in cooktop is $1899. Are your prices for the 30" range? Do you have a price for a 36" range? So $3999 for a range looks like a good deal.

I have the 36 inch Wolf cooktop and I love it. At another residence, I had a 36 inch Miele cooktop. Nice looks but it clicked incessantly when you turned the burners on. With the Wolf... one click and it's done. There is a good simmer on the Wolf also. With the Miele, the burner would often go out when I turned the dial to simmer. Have never had that happen with my Wolf cooktop. BTW ... I am currently replacing the Miele cooktop with the Wolf.

Gottobake, Thank you for your positive comment on the Wolf. It's the one I'm leaning toward. I think it's beautiful. but then I worry that at 15k, the burners may not be hot enough to produce a good sear, or a quick boil. I finally took DH to the appliance store today for his opinion. He doesn't do the cooking, but as an engineer he sometimes thinks of things I miss. He was concerned about the large burner being on the left instead of center. Since we center the hood over the range, the most powerful burner will be at the edge of the fan. I plan on getting a 42" fan to improve capture, but still it is a worthwhile question. Of course as an engineer, he had to fall in love with the burner design of the BS. So he still wants us to look at one of their drop-in models.

fun2cook, I'm n ca and cooktop price I got was $1899. interesting pt your dh makes about burners... i'd be curious to know why wolf designed it that way.

Some cooktops put the hottest burner on the front right, this is maybe better if you are left handed. But as a righty, it would be in my way a lot. I was told that makers moved the hottest burner from the back to the front to keep it further from combustibles. Not sure if this is correct, but everyone I looked at at hottest burner in the front (right or left) or center. One reason for burner on the left, instead of middle is more room if you want to use extra large pans. If you put a hugh pasta pot or wok in the middle, it may be more difficult to put another large pan next to it.
Gottobake, if you are out there, I'm glad to hear that the simmer works great, but what about on high? How are your sear and boil capabilities?

$3999 is for the 30" all gas. $4999 is for the 30" Dual Fuel. These prices are for parts of the NW, Bradlee is the distributor.

If in N. Cal., how far from the non sales tax border are you?
