Not sure what 'best bang for your buck' means to you. Do you have a price range in mind? When I looked, I liked (in order from least $$ to most) the Monogram ZET ovens (full-extension, ball-bearing glide racks that stay in during self clean, good-sized inside, happy purchasers for performance and quiet, knob controls), the Fisher Paykel oven (which we got...more cooking modes and finer temp control than the Monogram, also decent interior size and knob controls--and I got it from an appliance store on Ebay for less $ than the Monogram), and the Miele oven (great quality control in manufacturing, great reputation for customer service and performance, DH loved the rotisserie feature, but I didn't think I needed the Master Chef, and the price was just too much for us). If I was starting over, I'd also consider the Electrolux Icon ovens, which people are happy with, have full-extension racks, and are less $ than the Monograms. HTH

Ideally, I'm hoping that with our appliance 'package' we will be able to spend 2k or less on the oven... Some days I think it's impossible to find a 'good' oven that will blend with our other appliances for that much, but other days I think hey- why not??

I was seriously considering the Icon, but it seems the capacity may be a little small? It looked small in person and after reading posts on GW, it sounds like other people seem to think it is small too. I love the look and gliding racks, but I don't want to fall for the 'pretty boy' only to find out he's not so pretty after all. In addition, one of the two appliance places I am submitting with for bids doesn't carry the Icon. GRRRR.

When I say best bang for my buck, what I mean is that I want a good balance of the following:

-function/quality

I want something that does a nice job all around. I like to do a little bit of everything in my oven, so I want to make sure it can perform well enough across multiple genres of cooking. I don't need a lot of fancy features, but also wouldn't mind experimenting with them if they were 'there'. Convection required.

-reliability

I am rather risk averse when it comes to repairs on this appliance. I'd rather go with something that is a consistent performer.

-size

Will a turkey or a bunch of cookie sheets fit in the oven comfortably?

One more thing I forgot to mention:

I must be able to lock the oven functions when not in use!

I have two small children who will likely push/turn every button/knob on there.

And, God willing, they won't be the only ones to try... :)

I just bought the regular Electrolux oven to replace the Dacor Epicure Discovery oven that I had. It was half the price and has all the functions that I wanted. The rack on the Dacor was about 1.5 inches wider and the depth was the same. The Electrolux holds 2 9x13s side by side. The only thing is the very bottom rack does not accommodate the the rolling rack, just the slide rack. The rolling rack hits the door on the very bottom space. It looks plenty big enough to hold a turkey. I like that you can set the temp you want to the degree. On convection it holds a temperature right on the money. Standard bake has about a 15 degree swing on either side of the setting. I am so thrilled to have an oven that works! Icon is bringing a new model out and they offered me a really good deal on the old one but the features on the regular Electrolux were better for me. There is a lock out on it.

Have you had any problems with the KA oven blowing a fuse or melting the lock during self cleaning? There is a thread on this forum about all of these problems with KA ovens but I am not sure if they are related to one model or multiples.

Kenmore. I forgot the model number but its $1,000. convection, with convection conversion. has 5 burners including a bridge burner, power burner, and simmer burner, and griddle. it is really a good deal. It is the first model in the lineup that has convection.
