Old Yank Saying, "Don't Look A Gift Horse In The Mouth" (LOL) No body responded to your post, so I think it is great that they are sending somebody to fix it for free.
(I bet you know how to handle a salesman, if that is what it turns out to be)
Also I'm impressed He has the part to fix it----If you look at most of the posts about appliance repairs, most
repairs are not done on the first call, why?---You guessed it, They didnt have the part!!!!!!To Me, who ran a service business for 16 years, That is unacceptable.

If you looked more, you could have found one. Online parts websites usually are going to sell major parts that are commonly replaced like brushrolls, bags, filters and cords. What you could have done was find a vac shop in your area who services FQ. That shop could order the part for you, if they did not have it in stock.

What you did was call the FQ Distributor. They are going to try to sell you something. They asked you about an air filter, so they are going to try to sell you a Defender air cleaner. Now, if they try to sell you a new FQ, they need to back off, because the 360 is not that old. They have just recently changed the graphics on the outside of the vacuum cleaner.

It is possible that they are on the "up'n up". Many years ago, Electrolux would visit customers and see if they needed any parts or supplies like bags. They would even have some parts for small repairs.

Do not expect them to give you the part for free, unless they are trying to get something from you.

The FQ is a very good vacuum cleaner, that will last for many years to come. The power nozzle is better performing compared to previous power nozzles on FQ.

dodge1959, vacuum cleaners are not commonly fixed in the home like large appliances. They are taken to a vacuum cleaner repair shop.

Yes, I have taken in a few from time to time.
That's why I was surprised they make a house call.
I bet I get a dozen calls a day, from what I call "Fembots"
To me these are totally useless and I dont get my vacuum fixed for free when they call

I was wrong with this. Filter Queen sent their rep out who explained to me that I bought a used machine but it still qualifies for lifetime free service. I only pay for parts if I decide I want them. He also determined that the unit I bought was under a recall. I would get free parts if I could find the original owners name. This is how Filter Queen logs it into their database. Not sure why when there is a serial number on it. He did not try to sell me anything and was very friendly and professional. Very pleasant surprise to what I started to expect.

Hmmm, FQ's are only warranted for two years. Now that Distributor may have a special warranty that he sets up for his customers. If a FQ owner, who purchased from him, decides to take the vacuum to another distributor for warranty service, they can choose to not honor it.

I know of the FQ voluntary recall. It has to do with the wiring. The vacuum cleaners overheat and catch fire. Your bearing endcap is not part of the recall.

So how much did they charge you for the part?

The rep told me that Filter Queen has lifetime free service you only pay for parts if you want them. In my case I did not want them as it should be covered under the recall. No charge at all for the call or parts. He did tell me that I could put the Filter Queen back under the lifetime warranty by replacing all of the filters at a cost of about $135. This was for 12 months of filters plus the noise filter and the little filter on top. My only question is why does Filter Queen need the original owner name to replace parts that are under a recall? If there is a hazardous condition due to improper construction they should want to get those bad parts of the street. Their reputation is at stake. Also would there not be a concern that they informed me of the recall but want to charge me nearly $600 to replace parts unless I get the original owners name. What if I use this machine and burn my house down due to their recall would they not be liable since they did not replace their defective parts? I won't use it due to this but why would they leave it in a recall condition? Just doesn't make sense to me.

After reading your last post, I see that they do want to sell you something. You do not have a lifetime warranty unless you purchase filters every year. Once you stop purchasing the filters, your warranty expires, through the distributor.

As for the reasoning behind the original owner of the FQ, well, they will be compensated through Health-Mor for the recall repairs. They need to show that the vacuum cleaner and serial number matches up with the original owner on file. Health-Mor will have no idea that the vacuum was sold.
