Gary - that sounds pretty reliable to me! I'm going to explore that possibility. nerdyshopper - I have actually thought about the Thermadors. I just haven't read much if any recent feedback about them here. GW is the guide I'm using because of valuable, real life experiences. The league I'm in is not as posh as one might guess. My last built in oven was a 24" Frigidare, brand new in 1962. Died about 4 years ago when the only temp it had left was self-clean. My cooktop was a 36" elect of same vintage which croaked shortly thereafter with 6" flames coming out of back burner. In the meantime, I bought a used Frigidare smoothtop elect stove that kept me going while my kitchen was torn apart, complete with unintended indoor water feature, but getting back together gradually while college tuition and health matters took precedence. This is going to be my last kitchen, and after more than twenty years of making do I hope to splurge a bit. Much of the work is diy. RTA cabinets and did our own Waterlox finishing on the white oak flooring, which looks delicious. So - I'm eager to let the real cooking begin. Am planning a 36" induction cooktop also. Pretty much decided on Miele for that, although I'm intrigued by the power on the Thermador's middle burner. Guess that is a post for a different thread.

A convection M/W is not the same as a toaster oven. A Toaster oven ( or any toaster) uses radiant heat to brown the product. A convection M/W uses hot air to bake the product. Unless your M/W convection oven has a broil element it will not work as a "toaster"

Dianalo, I originally thought of doing that and building shelves/cabs for the TO and MW against the side of the fridge, but that's what my KD warned me against as she felt it would leave very little backsplash visible and the overall look would be cramped. After her sketching it out on the paper plan (a copy of the one I posted above), I see her point... Just doesn't seem like it would be a very attractive solution. But it is hard coming up with alternatives! Also, I use my TO a lot and will keep using it after the kitchen is redone, since my new oven will be 36" and I don't want to crank that big thing up if I can use the TO instead. Hence the need to find space for both TO and MW. Melissastar, I love your solution and wish I could borrow it! Bit I have four kiddos and the youngest are a young toddler and a baby, so a bit too risky. My toddler aleady tries to reach the MW and push buttons whenever he can, so it will need to stay at or above counter height for sure. Maruha, my pic doesn't show this but there is a door on the right hand wall just past the window. If I slide the sink under the window, anyone standing there will be in the way of the door swing, and as the door leads to the play set in our yard it is used pretty frequently. So I put the sink to the left of the window to allow for simultaneous use of doorway + sink. Marcydc, can you show me a pic of your micro drawer? Is it hard to lift out hot dinner plates, for example? I've never seen one in action so have a hard time understanding how it works in everyday usage. That might be a good solution? Are there particular brands, and which one do you have/like? Thanks so much and kee the ideas coming! I love it! Maybe we could find a way to squeeze them in along the side walls perhaps.... [What I wrote for a similar post] I got the Advantium oven and it's just about my most favorite purchase ever. I'm a completely lazy cook. Love to cook but hate to do it as a daily chore. The oven overall is amazing. I bought the 220v and it does so much that we hardly ever use the Monogram convection oven we bought to go with it. Speedcook has almost 200 presets that help it get just the right combination of halogen, microwave, and convection. French fries come out perfect in 4 minutes. Crescent roles perfectly brown in about the same time. Tonight we made fantastic Yukon Gold baked potatoes in 8, better than the 60 minute ones cooked in the oven. Meat, pizza, just about anything comes out great. And my husband can do it with no problem. It also works as a microwave, a regular oven, and a convection oven. It's so terrific and really well worth saving for. I liked the Trivection wall oven too but decided not to spring the extra $600 for it since everyone told me I'd hardly use the regular oven with the Advantium. The store had both the Advantium and a much cheaper Electrolux speedcook. I went and spent an hour trying them both. In the end, the user interface of the Advantium was so much better and easier to use that I decided to go for it. Haven't regretted it for a second. I saved money on the convection oven, fridge, cooktop and microwave to be able to afford it. Britt [Forgot to mention that it has proof and warming features.
