Linda- I'm running into the same thing on my computer. I thought I had pretty good protection on my computer and I somehow got this thing. I noodled around and found lots of recent talk about hiss exact problem. Gurus seemed to keep recommending the anti-malware I have linked below. I downloaded the free version, seemed to clear up most of the problem. I still have the problem...but only on the very first item in the list of whatever I've Googled. If I choose any other hit other than the first, I can get right to it. If I really want to choose the first hit, I have to select it, hit go back, select it again, and go back, until I get it. Sometimes I can get to the site after the second or third try. I've got my computer guy working on it again now. [He thinks it happened as the result of clicking on an ad that came up on a website where malware was scripted onto what appeared to be a legitimate ad. Huh? Oh well...I don't remember clicking...but the kids might have. :( !!] If I find out anything else, I'll let you know! He's really good and was stumped by this! I usually reset IE back to it's defaults (advanced tab of Internet Options). That's useful if one of the add ins is causing the problem. You can also uninstall all of the updated versions to get back to IE8, in case one of the updates got corrupted. I sometimes see web page display issues when the 64 bit version is used. Windows 7 comes with both the standard 32 bit and the 64 bit IE.

I tried this last night and thought, well that doesn't work! I see now - you have to wait a few seconds - for those of you that couldn't get it to work, go to google, type let it snow in the search bar and click enter - then watch on the top left of your screen, you should see a slight foggy sensation start to cover the words there. Just let it continue and your whole screen will eventually fill up with "snow". Once it's almost full the defrost button will appear at the top on the right side, just click that to remove the snow, or click your cursor and 'wipe' the snow away. Now that I see how it works, it's pretty cute. I'll have to sneak up on a couple of co-workers tomorrow and type it in to their computer while they are away from there desks... Suzan J

Thank you for responding crafty lady. My browsers is internet explorer. My computer is a 2010 Dell Inspiron desktop. All these years it has generally been okay with 2MB of ram but last week I jumped it to four MB by buying two, 2-MB cards from WalMart for $20. Now there is still fluctuating but I can move searching at a faster pace. I'm old and slow. I feel somewhere in the system there must be a fix. I'll save that for snowy days in these Western North Carolina mountains. Thanks again. Ron
