Thanks Zep, I tried the link directions. I sent 2 messages. They went somewhere but they are not in my sent box. I asked for a response if they receive them. We shall see. I can not tell you how much I hate Charter mail and the new Enhanced Mail is even worse. I have heard they have a lot of complaints.

Interesting, the 2 messages went out, they responded. I have changed nothing. I tried to respond again and get an error, they sit in outbox and I can not send again. Oh and in the process of setting up the live mail all of the mail in all boxes of Charter mail are now deleted!

eandhl, I have Charter for a ISP. I don't like their email either. Neither the old or the new version. It is slow and too hard to see. As far as I can tell you can't adjust font size yet. I've been messing with this for the past couple of weeks and this is what I found out. I can't remember exactly how I accomplished this, but look around and see if you can stumble onto the answers. Or post back if you don't find it and I will try to again.

The default seems to be to not keep sent messages in the sent folder. You can change that by clicking on the Preferences tab near the top on the blue line. then place a check mark in the box that says Save Outgoing Messages. Works for me, anyway. I don't know why you are getting an error message.

when your messages disappeared from charter email, did they show up in live mail? That is the way it is set up by charter. Please excuse my lack of the correct terminology. Your email will show in charter email as long as live mail is not open, (or Outlook express, etc) When I open OE, all the emails sweep out of charter and into OE. A problem if you are traveling, and someone else is at home. The traveler can't see the emails if the person at home opens the receiving account i.e. OE. That's why live mail or gmail is nice. you can access anywhere.

On my win7 laptop, I use a Gmail account, with the Charter set to forward into it. I don't remember exactly how I did that, but it must have been easy. Maybe Zep's link would show how to do it.

janette_orz7, thanks for response. No the saved messages did not go to Win Live mail - they just disappeared and I am not happy. I never changed the settings with Charter but I will look to see if they somehow got changed. I really want a stand alone mail package but Charter will give no help. My DH wants to dump Charter and go with ATT. Charter claims they are doing something about mail because of complaints.

Interesting...I have Hotmail that I've used for years and it saves all my sent messages. Went through all the Live upgrades etc. I do pay an annual fee for the deluxe version rather than deal with all the ads.

I'm also on Charter. Have never had a problem but I have never used their email either....

wizardnm, It isn't charter itself it is just their email. Win 7 isn't compatible with Outlook Express and that is what I was familiar with. Charter email is extremely slow. I mean slower that the old dial up with pictures to get any message. It does/did save everything until I tried to set up Windows Live Mail - I have no idea what happened but all of it disappeared and no way I changed any setting as I didn't even have their mail opened.

Add me to the I HATE CHARTER ENHANCED EMAIL list. I don't understand why they had any reason to change. At least we should be given a choice of which format we would like to use. I tried to search & find out if I could find the old email. No luck. Does anyone think they are getting these complaints
