Windows Live Mail

Has anyone found a solution to the slide show issue in Windows Live Mail? When I receive a message, the photo shows in the header, not in the body of the message. If I mark the option not to show the header, I don't get the picture at all. Either way, there is a box with a red X in the message body, but no picture.

If you are running Windows 7 try this.

Click Start - Control panel - Programs - Programs and Features

Scroll down and highlight Windows Live Essentials, return to the top of the page and click Uninstall/Change and a new window pops up, click the repair button. This covers Live Mail.

Any use?

I did the repair, it said it was completed successfully, but, sadly, it didn't change anything. You know, I'm wondering if it has to do with the way someone sends the original e-mail. Could it be that it's a setting on their end that I can't change on this end? Although, this was just a small photo that looked like it was a part of the little saying that came with it....not something that the sender would have inserted separately, if that makes sense. Again, the picture shows in the header and the body of the e-mail just has the empty box with the red X.

I know the "slide show" has been an issue with WLM, but I was hoping maybe I could fix this now.

Thank you for trying to help...and yes, I have Windows 7 and IE 9.

Might try while WLM is open to press F1 key fwiw.. I have username@Hotmail.com If I send mail to my username@Live.com it doesnt get delivered. So I would have to open a brand new account to have the same address & then would have two unique email accounts at two different web address's.

thank you, but it's only in the suite there. I finally gave up and downloaded it from cnet, used the option for mail only, but it installed other things which I will delete.

I have W 7 and WLM and I direct my server's email through WLM and I don't have any idea why yours does that, mine doesn't. I don't have an account with live, I don't like to join everything, especially social medias. You might try opening your email and the contacts listed there and try to add a contact and see if the same thing happens to it.

Access your comcast email account using a browser to their website and it should work fine. After that, you can figure out what's not working with your configuration.

OK so why not try what I did after reading your info?

I sent myself 10 photos to see what happens and was surprised to see the slideshow feature appear. You might indeed be right that the issue is the one email not the service itself.

They seem to use a jQuery style to advance the photos, it is not automatic. Works well actually.

I guess I just don't like WLM very much for several reasons...this being one of them. I've tried to switch over to Thunderbird, which I really like, but here's what happens:

When using T-Bird, the messages remain on the server and if I open WLM, it downloads the messages and they all disappear from my T-Bird Inbox. I can't find any optiion in the T-Bird set up to have it delete items from the server after downloading. I've tried to do some research and I think it has to do with the fact that T-Bird is set up as IMAP and not POP3. Is there a way to solve this problem so that I can use T-Bird instead of WLM?

And can you tell me what jQuery is? :-)

Yikes! That hurt my brain. I have to say that the BBC web page is very impressive. When I tried to read through the explanation on Wikipedia, I realized how little I know about such things! Thank you for the information, though. I'm glad there are smart people out there to make use of these processes so that the rest of us can enjoy the results. :-)
