zep- I have this one- I need to be able to HEAR the song- where can I go to hear a song to see if it is the right one? It looks like this site makes you send it to your cell phone- I don't want to do that.

Does the radio station web site run a list of 'Just Played' songs? My favorites do that, which helps a lot in identification.

Right, the radio station website is your best bet.
Most stations will have a favorites or top ten list, or like pk said a just played list.
Some stations you can play live and hopefully it would give a clue as to what they're playing.
I just went through this and know how frustrating it is when stations give no clue who the artist is or what song they're playing.
Try to remember a line from the song and search google with those lyrics, you may come up with a hit.

pk and randy- I bet you live in a more 'civilized' area! Ha Ha! I called them about 3-4am to ask- they thought a was goofy! 'Hadn't ever heard of someone doing that'. Sigh.....I'll keep at it.....

Don't limit yourself to a specific site. Generally all that is necessary is to do a Google search for:

lyrics +"some four or five word phrase from the song"

Just make sure you use the + sign and that the lyric phrase is in quotes. If you happen to know the singer or group, you can add that to the search terms with another plus sign. Alternatively, if you wanted lyrics for all songs by a particular person or group, you would just enter, for example:

lyrics +"Patsy Cline"

I've generally been able to find any lyrics I've been looking for with this approach.

One more thing. As far as listening to the song, once you have a title, just go to YouTube.com and enter the title in the search box. They have zillions of performances on the site. You will usually come up with the original performance plus several cover versions, and should be able to make a determination that way.

Some local stations will have a list of songs played BUT IN THEIR WEBSITE so consider checking that when you return home.

Some satellite radios have this fetaure so consider this if you can splurge when you buy a new car or as a present to yourself during Xmas.

Some Car Navigation Systems that I have seen (in a Dodge Challenger) will show the artist and name of the song too.

you can put in a google search in quotes for what every string of words you recall from the song or the artists name.
Like this "does that blue moon" I will link to the search for that, in it you will see it immediately found it as Toby Keith Does that blue moon ever shine on you. Put the words in quotes and many of the returned sites will have options to listen to parts of all of the song.

I have only had three viruses on any of my systems ever. Two of the three came from "lyric" sites that I connected to through Google.

did you do a search there or just when you went to the actual website? My WOT and site advisor did not show any problems there. I just checked it on google and it has all green there too. I wonder if possible a bad ad or something. I have used it off and on a few times with no issues. Of course as always if downloading from any site the downloads should be scanned well before opening.

But since you found that I would have to say not for anyone else to try it for now at least, who knows, and thanks for the heads up and posting that.

Yep DA I agree when you google some of those sites you get a LOT of red warnings from Wot.

It has to have some thing to do with a bad link or script I would imagine, I have seen so many legit sites that have had that stuff happen recently. Hopefully they will find out and get it cleaned up.

RC, The actural website loaded without a hitch. Keyed a name in the search area and hit enter. At that point the Avast warning came up. I don't download music just listen. Seeqpod is a keeper lots of old hits and bands came up. Thanks for sharing the site.

ah ok that tells me that something on the search you did that came up was on another site and that site contained the infection most likely, just like with google you really have to be cautious of any site you get to through search engines.
And especially for anything we are downloading like music files they can be dangerous so always once downloaded to the pc prior to running the file always right click on the file name and choose to scan it with your antivirus and malware programs there from the context menu.

I really like seeqpod I have myself a play list set up there and can just open it and select random and listen to my playlist all afternoon.

If you have not been to www.slacker.com it is also very good, I have playlists set up there as well, and now they even sell a portable unit much like an ipod where you can take your slacker music with you, very cool.

The search was for elton john at skreemr didn't know the site sent you to unknown links. Yep, I run right click scans all the time. Not sold on URL checkers I have Dr Web and Linkscanner.
