For those looking for a "router" for sharing data over cell services, there are additional alternatives to using a USB dongle with a portable router: - A "mobile hotspot", a combined cellular "modem" and router in one small package. Offered by the major carriers. Cost- wise, it's like having another phone, you pay to buy the device and have a (usually 2 year)contract with monthly access and data usage charges. - Most smart phones can operate as a mobile hotspot. Also called "tethering". The advantage with this is that there's nothing additional to buy and (at least with some carriers) no contract is necessary. You can turn it off and on as you wish, and apply usage to the phone plan you already have. The disadvantage is if you're not plugged in, the steady stream of cell data and wifi usage will eat through your battery life. I don't know if a tethered connection can be encrypted. It's convenient for occasional use, with my carrier, it's $ 20 per month prorated for the days it's turned on, so it's like 70 cents per day.

I hope Sue sees this before it ends as of now it is showing only on for another 11 hours. Since this is in the flash section you do have to be registered on the site to view but it is a quick and easy free registration for their site. I have been a registered member for years now and buy stuff quite often. I don't know that I have ever had my Asus go completely dead on the battery, it lasts a really long time. I plug it in first thing in the morning since I take it to bed and read or surf at night, when I am done using it at night I do turn it totally off which saves the battery but during the day once it is charged I rarely plug it back in. And this tablet will come with Android 4.0 but once connected to wifi it will let you know you have updates and it will update to the most current version of Android, that is what mine is on now.

Thanks, it was an early birthday present for myself, my husband is glad he got out of shopping. I have seen some info about the iPad while researching this large format tablet. It probably won't be too much longer. Several companies are doing them.

marita there has been updates to your model the final official Asus firmware update for the device is 4.0.3, released in July of 2012. The build number ends in .27 I have found the links for the firmware update for you, I will link it below. However it would be much easier if you would try getting over the air through the tablet, try doing as I suggested, settings, about tablet, system update and have it connect and scan for one. Watch the notifications bar for a download arrow and check the notifications list for any downloads, if you see it click it and select to install it. Otherwise you will have to go to the link below and find the proper firmware for your specific tablet, it's critical that you get the one for the right sku, it tells you there how to determine your own sku, I would think that it would be the US one. Now from what I read directly from Asus they are not issuing a Jellybean update for the 101 versions. I think I would try contacting Asus support and find out more about the firmware update that is offered there on their site and what options you have, and also how to get the updates over the air as you should. I wish I could help more but that's about it. Of course there's always the option to go to the xda forums and have them help you install a custom ROM that they have created which will allow you to have the latest Jellybean. This link takes you there where an Asus support tech actually suggested that http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2091679 Here is a link that might be useful: firmware update
