My neat yard sale find

got this the other day at a church yard sale for $4.00 - I am going to have fun decorating it over the seasons - here is my fall version - already thinking about how to do it for Christmas - it will definitely be an outdoor snow scene .....

I think my jaw is still dropped on the floor...not only due to the price, but what a GREAT piece to decorate.

Karen - I have sat here and just drooled over y'alls finds and when I saw this I said YES!!!!!! - finally. I have wanted one for a long time to play around with. Just the other day I was looking through a themed Christmas decorating book and saw one done in a Victorian outdoor winter scene. I think this will be my answer to everyones tablescapes and will change it up on a regular basis - I am excited .....

Saw this pic yesterday and thought that was really neat with the rocks and hens and chicks, I gotta do that, on my way to work there was one in the trash-wheelbarrow- but I took hubbys jeep today and left my SUV at home FIGURES!! oh well season just starting I'll find one thanks for posting and looked thru your other pics love the rooster and chicken in the wagon too!

Be careful if you open that bottle or wash it. Sometimes fumes can remain or be reactivated by adding water. open the stopper so it is not going to give you whiff in your direction. Could have had something else in it also! Neat stuff. Halloween ladder-that's a 1st! Sounds cute! Will be handy to place often used tools. So your partner in crime bought all the rest $240. Must have had some great tools! Jan

What can you tell me about my yard sale find?

Its a mid-century chair, probably produced for a commercial setting. It was most likely used as a "pull up" chair to a desk in an office/bank etc. The kind of chair you would sit in on the "other side" (visitor's side) of the desk. From the logo typeface I would say late sixties early seventies.

sorry about that Leveta, but my mailbox is always full..lol not sure why.. I have to go in and delete a bunch of stuff and I have been pretty busy and keep going to do it and I forget.. I have been bidding on a wedding dress that has a lot of pearls and beads on it with the hopes of takeing them off the dress and use them on other things.. there are a ton of them on the dress and so I have to watch the bidding so It does not get away from me.. then I just remembered that I have to help a girl I went to school with , with a vounteers luncheon.. so now I am in a pickle to as when I would be able to pick up the dress. LOl just to much going on in my life..Grandson's birthday, friends birthdays, Derby parties at my neices. Garden needs to have more veggies planted in it.. whew I need a twin.. I did bid on some yard lattice for my daughter to put in her yard and going to pick it up tonight.. my son in law is going to meet me .. Thank God.. not sure if I could have gotten that by myself..LOL she has such a pretty yard and I knew she wanted the lattice and it was on my on line auction but she thought it was too high.. so I went ahead and bought it for her. cause I knew she and her sweet hubby will use it wisely in their yard.. So it has become a busy spring for me.. but I love it. Huggy

Jeanne - that is an ole steamer chest - over 85years old that my father got at an auction back in the 80's - I got it when they moved and didn't want to move it - I use it as a coffee table - love love love it .....

What a great bargain and wonderful find! Don't you just love church rummage sales--always such fantastic prices! Your little fall scene looks really cute inside it, and I'm sure a winter scene will as well. You know kids will love this too--just something about peeking in at a miniture world inside is so fun. Thanks for sharing your fun with us. ;o)

Great find. It will be interesting no matter how you decorate it. I can picture it with a little snow covered village scene- complete with minature people and a snow man.and a little Christmas tree) That was a great find, I have always wanted one to put african violets in, but can't find one at a price that I like. I see you set up a cute display already, and
what fun it will be creating new ones.
Someone posted one of those last Christmas, but it was made from discarded windows and they set it up like a Toy Store at Christmas...really cute.
I think what you found is even better because you can set it up anywhere...
Now I'm looking forward to seeing what you do...

Lynne, that is absolutely gorgeous! What a wonderful find you have and at a fantastic price! I love how you have it decorated right now, but I can't wait to see how you decorate it for Christmas...especially if you're doing a Victorian scene. That will be so beautiful!
