I want to go USG because they make the custom pan with the drain where I want it, and trimming these pans will obviously create some strange aesthetics at change of plane w/ wall. Problem is, no one wants to sell me one! Here in NJ, only distributor within 90 minutes are HD stores. I call them, and they don't know the custom pan exists. Local tile guy has Wedi, but very pricey, and it doesn't seem ideal for a neoangle curb, also no custom pan. I'm assuming you may have a connection with someone who will sell me one? Online USG email support for neo angle sent me back to uninformed home depot, and a general instruction which doesn't address how to wrap the 135 deg. angle. I'm going to call them one last time, if not I'll take my chances with kerdi membrane with a mud deck. 1 question on the USG product...if i go with the new ultralight foam, does it require full membrane, or just the seams? If it requires full membrane, should I just use fiberrock as it will probably be much cheaper? Any ideas how to do the 135 neoangle curb, I'm probably just going to borrow kerdi methods over at johnbridge, and use the sealant for any questionable corners . Thanks so much for your help!

just make sure you have a wrrrty for the generator that both the mfg and plumber will wrrty get it in writing if the unit does not work with your adjusted cubic ft. calculations you are also gonna be very unhappy and stuck between tiler plumber and MFG . Rare a unit the plumber did not purchase from a supply vendor will be wrrty. , rare a plumner will install a unit supplied by client. Regardless do not buy online unless direct from mfg. You can get defensive, but i was trying to help you avoid a potential issue as i build steamers and have had to have units repaired onsite it is a very risky situation you are proposing and red flag in my experience .Lots at stake.

I’m looking to buy a whole house steam humidifier. Current house is from early 1900s, 5500 sq ft and has no humidifier. Kinda dry in here. I know that the Aprilaire 800 has been around for a while and is relatively tried and true, so that's high up on the list of equipment I'm looking at. But I know that General Aire came out with its latest gen competitive steam humidifier last year (the model 5500). Was curious if anyone has thoughts on which one is best, including in terms of longevity and availability of parts. Leaning toward Aprilaire just because it's a known quantity, but GeneralAire seems to have some newer tech/internals that makes it worth it perhaps? (e.g., support for modulating humidistat if desired, single cartridge for hard or soft water, ability to digitally reduce max output below 100% at whatever voltage/current setting it’s at). Thanks.

@dbotemple FWIW contractors in NYC are generally more willing to work in coops and condos because they would be cutting themselves out of a significant and lucrative market if they didn't. Where condo/coops are a less significant percentage of the market, GC's can afford to choose not to do work in condos. I did a gut remodel in a high rise condo in Los Angeles and not every GC wanted to do it but they could afford to not do it since it is a small share of the housing market in Los Angeles. Per my original suggestion, use a permit expeditor in New York City because the process is so convoluted.
