My choice in that situation would be a Miele speed oven. Costs even more (cheaper H4044 model is $2200), and requires 240V, but it is well reviewed here and elsewhere. I was going for that, but then I ended up with a range plus a combi oven, so couldn't really justify another oven.

Thanks, pillog. The dimensions and storage suggestions are extremely helpful. As for the 27" vs. 30", I'd love to have a 30" but the problem is how to fit one in. I'm working around various obstacles (e.g., a chimney) and fixed features (e.g., unmovable doors and some unmovable walls) that limit what we can do with the space. On the other hand, I hadn't thought about what would happen if the 27" ovens die and replacements can't be found. The current ovens are decades old and still work fine, but I guess that's not likely to repeat itself, given the life expectancy of current appliances. It may be time to look at those plans again and see if there's a way to steal 3 inches...

Annab6, I think the interior size of the Miele Speed Oven might be a little small for a family of 4 for everyday cooking. It is perfect for the two of us, though. So look carefully at the interior size for your cooking style. We have another 30 all gas oven/cooktop, so we didn't have to roll the dice on that call. We have only cooked a couple of items in the convection bake mode, but they have come out great and the cooking times were fast, too. The broil mode of the Speed Oven completely eliminates the need for a separate counter top toaster oven, too. It does a perfect job on nachos and open face cheese sandwiches and is very quick to warm up because of the small interior cavity and the 220 volt broiler element. Again, the main issue is whether this 24 inch wide European appliance would be big enough to serve as your everyday oven, but you indicated that you will have another oven as well. The Miele has the cooking capability in spades, but the size may not work for your family on an everyday basis. If you have another US style oven for big roasts, hams, and turkeys, you definitely will not need a separate microwave, so you can can save money, cabinet, and counter space there. Because of all the complaints we saw on the internet about how tough it was to clean the Miele's rough surface stainless interior, before our purchase we went to a cooking demo in Reno and then cleaned the very dirty demonstrator oven's interior ourselves. It was really no problem to get completely clean, even though the oven had obviously not been seriously cleaned in several weeks. With our Miele Steam Oven mounted just below the Speed Oven, we have rarely used the microwave function in the Speed Oven for re-heating anything; the Steam Oven gets that job everytime due to its superior re-heat performance. So far, we have been really using the Speed Oven mostly as a convection baker and as a small and easy to clean broiler. The microwave function is great for heating up a single cup of hot water for tea, though. On a couple of early microwave cooking experiments we did notice that the absence of a turntable in the Speed Oven is just not a problem, as its rough stainless surface does a great job of distributing the microwaves evenly. The absence of the space-robbing interior turntable of most other designs really improves the effective size of the Speed Oven's interior. Those Germans just might be onto something with their rough reflective surfaces...

I went to see the Miele CSO and oven last Friday, and I really like the CSO especially it being plumbed the the XL is big enough. The interface is great, perfect for anyone that's new to steam ovens. The regular oven is pretty much just fine. However, I still like the Wolf's look more, Miele is more modern clean look while Wolf has more rounded edges and the warmth feeling to it...I know that's so superficial LOL! One thing I am curious is, the sales guys at either Pacific Sales or Pirch all told me they would recommend Wolf, even though Miele is a superior product. I wonder if they get a lot more commission when they sell Wolf?? Also, the sales guy said if I get Miele, it's best to get the Miele installation because Miele will double the warranty makes it 2 years instead of 1. Did you get that too?
