Starting tips on my Blog

Hi all, sorry I have not been around much, I have been very busy, and of course, my internet connection is giving me alot of grief, it took me FOREVER to load the 2 posts I have done so far. (someone remind me that I love computers) Sigh....

At any rate, if you go to my blog you can view some of my Christmas decorating tips, and of course more to come, providing my computer behaves.

Wooo-Hooo! I'm so happy you can post, even if it is only a little bit. I finally got a satellite because I was so tired of not being able to see all of the pics. Now, everytime it is cloudy or rainy I can't even get online! SOOOOOOO frustrating!

Can't wait to see all of your decorating. My tree is finally starting to have a fuller look. It will never be as bright as your's because it has colored lights. White is so much brighter, but I love the color. That is what I grew up with and it makes me happy. I need to pick up a few more things for it and I will try to take some pics. My DD keeps telling me to stop putting stuff on it because I already have too much on it already!

Good to see you back Judith - have really missed your beautiful pictures. Your blog is beautifully done - I have bookmarked it and will make it part of my tour through blogesphere. One can never get too many tips on how to do things or inspiration from pictures....

Dan: The lumber I chose for my raised beds was construction grade pressure treated 2x6s. My brother's used them for his beds for a decade and they still look as good as the day he installed them. I know there could be some leaching but supposedly the new treatment is safe. A helpful hint that I can't help give is that if you have the time, you should put dirt over each node of the vine, where the leaves come out from the vine, so that secondary roots will establish. I don't know exactly how helpful it is but I do it every day and it seems to be helping my vine alot. Especially since I see you all are in california and the low humidity evaporates a lot of the water before it gets to the end of the vine, these secondary roots closer to the tip can help establish healthier leaves and everything. I definately see my vine wilting less since it has established more roots, you never know we might have a heat wave like the rest of the country did later in the summer.

Thanks folks for coming to visit, I will cross link other Quilt Blogs as I find them & learn how. I'm still so new at this, I don't know how to explain this better, 'cause coming though here, one only sees my first entry. Doing a search in the manner I first suggested, you'll see the whole blog, which I've been working on all week & now has lots more entries & pix in it. The down side is I didn't realize Blogs show in reverse Chronlogical order, so as I post my older work that's the stuff you see first, which is backwards from what I wanted, GRRRR, the learning curve!!!!!! But I AM mighty pleased w/ myself! Even better still, my patron saint of quilting saw the blog, was so pleased with it & for me, that she just gifted me w/ a state-of-the-art digital camera, so that my posting pix wouldn't need to rely on others as photographers!!! Astounding, now I've got to learn the camera & upload technology!!!

Thank you for taking the time to do this. I did not think of those pointsettas at walmart as looking soo pretty, but they look lovely on your tree. Can't wait to see your progress.

thanks ladies for all your nice comments and support, it means alot to me!

I am jumping on here early at work, because you guessed it (those of you who know my computer troubles)! Argghhh I think my home lap top has totally crashed again. It worked off and on all of and hour or so yesterday, when I went to shut down it would NOT shut down. When I woke up this a.m. it had a blue screen saying: "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. It said to restart my computer.
Well it won't restart! Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I even tried doing a F8 which it suggested (on the fixed blue screen), nothing there worked either. I am going nuts here! Last time it crashed I took it to the Geek organization at the Big computer store, they did a terrible job, I had to bring it back 3 times for them to do it right, and they are supposedly computer people!!!!!!
So if anyone knows which buttons I am supposed to hit please let me know (oh yes, I also tried Control-Alt-Delete, that did nothing either.

I will try posting this in the computer section of GW too.

This is just such a bad time to happen again..sigh...

Judith, maybe your computer has some "bugs" and they are messing with it. I purchased Regcure & run it every other day or so. When I first purchased it, I had over 600 errors on my computer.

It can be ad ware, spy ware etc. that you get from visiting other sites.

As soon as my puter messes up or is slow I run it, and sure enough, more of those critters have invaded my computer. You can go here for a free scan (that is if you can get it to turn on) and they have info at that site how these things affect your computer. http://www.regcure.com/

Another good site which does repair things free is:
http://housecall.antivirus.com. Only thing with that, is it takes my computer hours to load their scan, due to my dial-up.

Thanks for the decorating tips! I just wanted to mention that I had my computer freeze up on start-up once. We had to call the support for your computer manufacturer (and pay for it!!) but they were able to walk through the messages and finally tell us we needed a new hard drive.

Oh, one thing we tried before calling support was use the disk that comes with your computer for recovery. That did not work for us. I keep saying 'we' because I let DH do all the horrible work of getting it fixed.

Judith, my DH said to ask you what kind of laptop you have. That will make a difference as to what the answer might be. Once I get your answer, I'll ask him if he has any suggestions that might help you.

I agree, this is a horrible time for it to be messing up on you--I just know you have so many pretty things you are wanting to share with all of us.
