Mini scroll Bar?

I have a Toshiba laptop, XP Media Center. In the system information, it says Windows XP Professional. Internet Explorer 7.

There is what I call, a little scroll bar (up & down)that pops up at random (while I'm moving the mouse around) It can be while I am looking at a page on the internet or just on the desktop. It's a nice feature at times, then other times it is kind of a pain. Is there a way to 'turn it off' if I want to? Thanks!

Sounds to me like it might be the auto-scroll icon that pops up when you press down on the scroll wheel. You can probably go to the control panel and double click on the mouse icon and change the 'wheel button' to do something else. I have mine set to double click because I have trouble double clicking due to arthritis.

Thanks Bob,

I looked in the control panel but didn't see anything for an auto-scroll option. I'll keep searching! This is a laptop and I'm using the touch pad.

Yah. There is something wrong with the web pages lately. I've have lost the right side scroll bar too, and not always with ads. I've had to excuse the page and reload it sometimes more than oce to correct the problem. I'd see the bar and then it would suddently disappear. I think it was a bad web page design. Here's a tip that helps protect you from getting hung up from a bad web page. When you wish to read a post, do it in a new window. Instead of left clicking on the post, right click and a drop down menu appears; Choose "open in new window". Once you have finished with the current window, close it by clicking in the "X" box or by right clicking on its icon in the tray and choosing "close". After you toss the current, temporary window away, the older window will show. Using this technique will allow you to toss away a bad page and return to where you were without having to restart the "That Home Site" page again.

Can you post a picture of the space? That might help with seeing what would look good. And what style are you going for? Traditional? Contemporary? Retro? Provincial? British Colonial? Urban?.... Maybe a combination of them all. Have you done the Sweeby test? I have a pennisula and had the same quandry trying to decide on a lighting plan. A huge factor for me is the source of light. Is it glaring? Is it blinding? I spent more money on under cab lighting because I do not like the glare of a light bulb in my view. I think if you plan on the pendants being more of art and less of a light source you might find they are adding to the beauty of your room. Those who rely on pendants for a strong lighting source wind up disappointed with the glare bomb in their eyes. Let me know your style, ideas and what you are looking for and I can help do a search of images for you to think about. I think with an 18 foot island you can do some gorgeous lights...Oh I can't help myself. Toddler-proof Mini Bar area - insight needed!

How about some miniature saloon doors? you can attach a little latch lock on it or a bolt lock and maybe put it in the back in case your toddler is tricky like mine and can unlatch almost anything. I found a few ideas on pinterest. They aren't incredibly hard to construct yourself...but they can be found on etsy. Here is a saloon style baby gate for a visual and this one is found on etsy. If that doesn't work for you, have you considered relocating the bar? We just just bought a house and turned our kitchen hutch that stored our plates and bowles and such, into a bar....eventualy I'm going to paint it but its really nice. My kids can't open the cabinets at all.

OOps, you said mouse and I assumed desktop. Maybe mikie will be along and help you. I don't know anything about laptops and touchpads.

I use a wobble stick. Dont recall ever seeing a little popup scroll bar.
Might try right clicking on the little scroll bar and see if it has options or properties to disable it.

When I right click on it when it pops up on the normal scroll bar, I get these options: scroll here, top, bottom,scroll up, scroll down and there isn't any properties option on it. If I right click when it pops up somewhere on the page(as a horizontal bar) I get: Back, Forward,Save, Copy, Paste, Add to Favorites, Print, Create Shortcut, Google search, Select all..and I might have missed one or two! This one has Properties option and clicking on it shows the page properties that I'm on. The horizontal bar is harder to bring up on the screen, but it does pop up every so often.

I'll check out the windows live site.
