Facebook's New Profile Page -- How to ' not accept ' ?

What does one do if one does not want the new Facebook profile?

I understood that Facebook users would have a choice.

Now I have a message that says Profile page be automatically changed in a few days. Can't figure out how to "not accept" ....

For the month of December, Facebook gave people the option to upgrade to the new profile early.

The new look is now being rolled out to all users (450 million). It's not a VOLUNTARY choice. What's good for facebook is good for you I guess.

Lots of complaints as there always is with any change.

I just recently read an article on that and how it was set default to share which is just ridiculous.

I highly recommend this site for anyone using facebook

I copied this info from one of the other forums I am on

"NEW PRIVACY setting called "Instant Personalization" that shares data with non-Facebook websites and it is automatically set to "Enable." Go to Account >Privacy Settings > Applications and Websites >Instant Personalization > Edit Settings, and un-check "Enable". BTW if your friends don't do this, they will be sharing information about you."

according to some of the latest articles today was the date that it was to be changed on all facebook pages.

It seems like you need to know what something is called to find it - I tried Local Sales Barkhamsted and got nothing. You found Buy Sell Trade Barkhamsted? So I should try Community News Barkhamsted? (and other nearby towns) I did post on the local Historical Society page that we'll be at the next Barn Dance with samples of old-fashioned preserves, the Society liked my photo and put it in their album so I emailed the VP (a neighbor who calls each year to ask for donations) and asked her to "like" my page, not just the photo, if possible. I haven't heard back from the soup kitchen since I replied to their email thanking me for donations. Is it too pushy to ask for FB likes? What about being listed as a sponsor on their website (I don't know if they have a minimum $ amount to be listed, can ask but the town farm is one, they don't make $ donations and they are chartered to provide a certain % of their harvest to charity but they are still listed.) I won't be Boosting my page since I found it's $5/day to reach about 14 people, minimum 7 days!

When you get to the General Notifications page...scroll down to the All Notifications setting and click on Facebook..it will open and look like this Facebook Email Sends you a message Adds you as a friend Confirms a friend request Posts on your Wall Pokes you Has a birthday coming up (weekly message) Suggests a friend you might know Adds a friend you suggested Joins Facebook after your invite Tags you on their profile Tags you in a post Mentions you in a comment Comments on a post you were tagged in Subscribes to your public updates Posts content (Close Friends list only) Says you are with them in a post Likes a post you're tagged in Likes your post You can change your options there...hit save changes and move to the next one... I'm not sure setting up a public facebook account...telling the public you are at home and very sick is the best idea. If you are sure to set up the page as private, I guess it couldnt' hurt. But, I think most of your helpers (elderly people who are retired) may not have facebook pages anyway. Unless you have a very close relative who can take off weeks to be with you, I don't think you are going to be able to coordinate volunteers to always be with you. People just don't have the time. I have a good friend on bedrest for a pregnancy, and to even get people over there everyday for a couple hours is hard. You probably need to come up with a different solution if you have to have someone there with you constantly.. I would think you may have to hire a nurse, or helper of some sort. Good luck.

I got that message today. So I went ahead and switched over
to the new layout. Was no big deal. I don't think it
changed any of my privacy settings. Other than my profile
page everything else looks the same to me.

Pooh, you are right, no big changes, but the checkmark that RC was refering to is there and as long as you leave it, you info will be shared...

I would like to add for anyone who joins and invites friends and family to meet them there, please ask your friends by email, don't let Facebook do it. My stepdaughter allowed Facebook to do it and now they have my family and friends email address. I got all kinds of emails from them until I bounced them back.

I knew about the Instant Personalization setting.
I have it unchecked. Been that way for a LONG time.

I went back and checked my privacy settings.
None of them had been changed.
Even the Instant Personalization setting was the same.

Facebook got my master account address that my step daughter has been using for years because she is "family".

Do they automatically get all the addresses in her address book or does she have to give them to Facebook?
