Some questions about downloading and saving

I am the last in line in figuring out how to download and save audio files. I have i tunes and windows media player set up and have successfully downloaded what I want- which is audio books. However, they do take up a lot of memory and I would like to save them to my external hard drive instead of in the i tunes folder.

How do I do that and still access them? Should I just put them on a disc?

I have been using u torrent and libraries to do this.

At the moment, I will probably burn them to a disc because I don't know how to use my mp3 player yet and don't want to spend more money to get a docking station for my tape player. I don't like earphones...ever.

I feel like there are huge chunks of info I am missing right now...

I'm not that interested in music...just audiobooks.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction!
