Do you have just one computer connected to the internet? If so, why would you want a wireless printer? If you have more than one computer you must have a router. Is the second computer connected to the router with a cable? If it's not connected with a cable you must have a wireless router. I have a wireless printer that's connected to my router with a cat 5 cable. Brother told me that it's a more stable connection that way and the printer is only about 3 feet from the router so I connected with a cable and can print from my laptop in a different room.

OK...obviously I'm too dumb to be allowed to post on this forum. My sister just called the people who put her computer together. She does NOT have an internal wireless adapter. Not only that, the item we purchased, the ASIX adapter, is just an adapter...not what we thought it was. I am totally confused about the difference between "Ethernet" and the external adapter...and the whole thing. I see now that we need to purchase an external wireless card. Is that right? And could someone explain to me what it is that the Device Manager is seeing if it's not the item that allows for wireless connectivity? So sorry to be so incorrect about the information I thought I was providing all of you. I know nothing about hardware, as you can see. Thank you again for all of your help. Bugsy

Sorry, the RangeBooster G WBR-2340 is the router. The WUA-2340 is the adapter, as specified by the info on the router box. The XP is a 4 year-old (maybe 5) desktop without its own wifi adapter. The message about the locked dll came up with the first several attempts to install the adapter on the XP. Then, no more. I was finally successful in installing the wireless adapter in the XP. Don't know why or how it eventually worked. I just continued to repeat the same install with their CD over and over and over ... (I was told it would be an easy install. Sigh)

Not up on the easy transfer cable, you might want to investigate the transfer speed... but think you will find it slower than a regular network connection ... Inexpensive network switch and a couple of cat5 patch cables maybe lots quicker. Quick look at newegg I saw a network switch for $9.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833166034 Plain old usb wifi network adapters in ad-hoc mode run 11mbs and newegg and others usually have name brand ones for a wireless connection at $20 each. Sometimes close outs for less.
