Grohe thermostatic valve -- hang?

We have a Grohe thermostatic valve and Kensington trim that was recently installed. We've had many problems with this project, and we're still trying to resolve them. One relatively minor issue, that I'm not even sure is an issue, is that the temperature control "hangs" at about the 2 o'clock position. You have to push a little harder to get it past that position to full vertical. Is this normal and intended? Could someone who has a similar setup confirm if theirs does the same thing?

A possibly related problem is that the trim has a plain white ring in place of the temperature marked ring it's supposed to have (they claim the correct piece is on order). Does this sound familiar? It's not clear to me why this blank ring would ever be shipped, but I wasn't here to see the unboxing of the parts...

We have one--there is a "stop" at 100 deg F, which is a safety measure (at least on the Geneva, which I believe has the same guts, but different trim). I think it can be deactivated, but I'm not sure--could be the hansgrohe that can be. (Of course, 100 F on the control isn't actually 100 F, which is a separate issue for us).

I find it odd they would send a blank ring, but it's possible they make them for people who want a "clean" look.

The white ring almost seems like it would be sent as a shipping spacer or something. The whole thing seems wrong. The handle is a bit wobbly, but they claim that it's because the correct temperature ring is slightly bigger and spaces the whole thing out correctly. I'm not sure I really believe that, but I'm going to have to wait for them to try it before I can tell them they're wrong. This whole project has been beset by things that I can tell are wrong, they claim will turn out perfectly, and then they do turn out to be wrong and have to be re-done. Needless to say, I won't be working with this contractor again, but right now I just need to get this project finished.....

Here are images of our weird installation. This is in the maximum "hot" position (as far as the lever will go). And this is an image with the handle in the maximum "cold" position. Here is a picture of the two white rings ... we think the narrower one is supposed to be installed in the wall, on the other side of the trim plate. Is this correct? As it is now, we can get very hot or warm water, no cold. The lever can be moved about a quarter way around altogether (the first two images illustrate the maximum movement of the lever). He measured the water temperature when he "fixed" the stainless sleeve (the notch was originally on the bottom instead of the top and we KNEW that was wrong); he adjusted the green nut so the water was 100 degrees when the ring was on the numbers "100" ... but I assume the position of the lever itself matters as well (and must have to be adjusted relative to the numbers on the white band since why else are they there?), since as it is, you can't even MOVE the lever to the lower numbers. HELP!!!! Am I not understanding something here? I have to be able to explain in REALLY simple words to this guy what this should look like and how it should function. He thinks it's just fine and clearly didn't really understand why the notch (by which you determine where you align the temperature number) had to be on top -- where it could be seen. I had the sense he felt he was humoring me by moving it :)

I think its normal. My master bathroom is farther from the HWH and takes much longer to get hot than the other bath which is virtually on top of the HWH. Just to be safe though call Grohe customer service at 1-800-444-7643 and discuss it with them.

This is interesting. We've been showing with our valve about4 months. Both of us commented its not as warm but thought we were crazy. We had the tile guy over to work on a spot in the shower so we've been showering in the other bathroom. Its amazing how hot that water is. So I guess we need to have ours adjusted also, we just thought it was us.

I think I looked briefly at that one, but not sure. If so, my recollection is that you plug one output only if you're using only one fixture (just a shower) or a tub and shower, but where the tub spout has the built-in diverter (i.e., the little pull-up thing on it.
