resetting default browsers

I have tried everything possible to make firefox my default browser and my computer keeps opening IE everytime I click on a web link.

I have gone thru control panel and same default icon in start menu box. It will show my changes but changes back when I click another link.

Xp home OS

When IE opens it always shows dialog box asking if I want to make IE my default????

I prefer firefox.

if you did the update to IE8 it does a sneaky little trick when it installs and has caused many to have a problem like that where it wants to keep Ie as default. Try this

Make sure IE is closed
In firefox Click Tools, Options, then click the Advanced icon in the Options toolbar.
Click the General tab if it's not already selected, then make sure Always check to see if Firefox is the default browser on startup is enabled.
Click Check Now, then confirm that you want to make Firefox your default browser.
Click OK.

go into your IE settings and uncheck the box to check to see if IE is default browser that should stop it from continuing to ask you.

you should go ahead and do this also
Start button --> Set Program Access and Defaults
"Custom" option selected.
Click on the downward arrows to the right of Custom.
Under "Choose a default Web browser" select Mozilla Firefox.
Click on OK.

I'm not sure how to do this, but I'm sure someone else is. However, my e-mail through my ISP is GMail and I have two other GMail accounts in addition to one other web-based e-mail program. I have them all configured to download in Outlook Express simply because of the simplicity of using them that way. Of course, I can always go to the web site of each to retrieve my e-mail if I so choose. Just something to think about.

Or maybe If another browser has been set as the default browser, including Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 3, or Opera 9, you may be unable to reset SeaMonkey as the default. As a workaround, install Firefox 2.0.0.x and make it the default browser, then open SeaMonkey and set it as the default.

The 328 manual shows the options but doesn't say what the defaults are. If you go to the link below it will download a pdf file for the Samsung 448. On page 28 there is a chart showing the options for each cycle with the dots for defaults in bold. Hope this helps. Here is a link that might be useful: Samsung 448 manual

I have a Samsung too and really like it. My temp control has a lockout. Does yours? Perhaps check, it may or may not help, but my temp stays the same during surges that require all the clocks to be reset on appliances.
