New Capital Culinarian Burners
Comments (38)I have finally gotten the part numbers I need from Capital and Adco. The new burner is 25k vs 23k as others have mentioned. If you want the full 25k output, you need to change the oriface. The parts I am listing are for natural gas, given to me by Capital. My parts are for a CGSR484BG natural gas. Please confirm these parts with Adco for your needs. To upgrade a 23k old style burner to a new style burner (electrode built in): 82366-01 Burner Cap 82366-02 Burner Base 82101-43 Oriface for 25k burner The rep at capital said that you do not need to change the orifaces if you don't mind staying at 23k but the orifaces are $3 each, so you might as well get them. To upgrade a 23k old style burner to a new style 8k burner (electrode built in): 82366-04 Burner Cap 8k 82366-02 Burner Base 82101-56 Oriface for 8k burner Note that the burner base is the same and only the cap and the oriface change between the 25k and 8k. You do not need to buy the electrode part, it is attached to the base on the new style. In the event that one of your spark modules has failed like mine, that is part 84202-02. The cost for full kit 3x25k, 1x8k and 2xSpark modules was around $900. We can't wait to never hear clicking again (we hope)....See MoreCapital range burner output not what we thought
Comments (7)That small burner was added due to folks here in Garden Web requesting it. There were quite a few complaints about a not low enough simmer with the "Big Burners". Capital should have updated the info, but as Trevor and I have mentioned, "Marketing is not one of Capital's strong suits" (Paraphrasing), that would include their brochures and website. One has to give them credit for implementing changes that have been suggested here in Garden Web, and in fact if you check past threads here in GW, most of the burner part of the ranges, along with the standalone cooktops were designed right here in Garden Web. Folks voted on the power/size of the burners, how many of each, etc etc. Show me any other Appliance manufacturer that would do that? In fact due to inputs here in GW, they redesigned a cooktop that had misc sized burners to one that only had the large burners, then the "ooops" started about simmer and Capital added the simmer burner. Hopefully someone can get Capital to correct the misc info on the Current Capitals. Gary...See Morerange hood for 36" 6 burner Capital Culinarian
Comments (17)Measurements made with commercial cooktops using "side panels" along with a hood that was the same width as the cooktop revealed that the side panels were effective in keeping the plumes headed toward the hood aperture, even when a salamander was mounted on the back wall near the panel. Examples of these side panels on commercial units may be seen in the attached figure. Cabinets on each side of the cooktop can perform similarly, but less effectively due to not usually being deep enough, front-to-back. This will depend on whether the front or back burner is being evaluated. Of course, cabinet placement and size must conform to appliance manufacturer requirements for distances to inflammable materials. From: CKV_Design_Guide_2_031504.pdf by the California Energy Commission Side Panels and Overhang Side (or end) panels (as represented in Figure 12) permit a reduced exhaust rate in most cases, as they direct the replacement airflow to the front of the equip-ment. They are a relatively inexpensive way to improve capture and containment and reduce the total exhaust rate. In fact, one of the greatest benefits of end panels is to mitigate the negative effect of cross drafts. It is important to know that partial side panels can provide almost the same benefit as full panels.Bottom line: Don't panic if your cabinets preclude the hood width that would be otherwise desirable. You might consider a partial panel with your hood to augment the cabinets. The panel partially obscured by the cabinet shouldn't look too obtrusive....See Moregas range top... sealed burners, open burners ???
Comments (70)maire_cate and Wekick Thanks both. I think I've watched Trevor's video before. the simplicity of the BS is very similar to my Russell range except everything in the Russell is stainless. (which I do like) I'm not terribly concerned about service as there is little that can go wrong. Having a high BTU kiln I'm used to taking he venturis apart and cleaning the burners. So I'm comfortable working with burners, cleaning adjusting. Unfortunately, there is no BS dealer close. I've watched all of the BS videos to ad nauseam drove to Las Vegas some months ago as I was told I could see one and try it out. They had a range which I would think is similar to a range top. They knew nothing about it. It was not live, disappointing to make a 5.5 hr trip for nothing. Next closest is Salt Lake city a 8- 9 hour round trip. Maybe when I get close to actually buying I'll make the trip and spend the night.. Trevor wrote his phone number on one of my posts suggesting I call him. Haven't done it yet and of course the paper I had has disappeared from my desk. Sales person also told me how wonderful Wolf ovens were. Yikes, I remember reading about your pain Wekick. When I mentioned the blue enamel chipping there was just a blank stare. I told him I plan on getting the GE French door wall oven as I have one in the FL house and like it. . When I asked if he can give me a deal on SZ (side by side and wine cooler) if I buy all of my appliances he said no they are sold at full price unless I purchse a suite of SZ/Wolf, which isn't going to happen.::(( There is a Ferguson in town as well. I don't think their set up is nearly as large but will head there one of these days. The only thing I'm still on the fence about is the dishwasher. Do I get another Bosch which cleans really well but doesn't load very well with my handmade dishes. Maybe by the time I actually get to remodel, Bosch will have improved their interior set up...I'm hoping. Inga...See Morehpxmirage
